In comparison to recent years, LIV Golf’s off-season has been a pretty quiet one in terms of the big names they usually go chasing.
Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs have added the relatively unknown Luis Masaveu to the roster, while the Cleeks have added Frederik Kjetterup and Thomas Pieters has moved teams to join the 4Aces with Dustin Johnson.
There is just one open slot really to go at now, with Jon Rahm’s Legion XIII looking for their final player after a successful first season last year.
And adding fuel to the fire in terms of speculation, former PGA Tour player Colt Knost has suggested LIV are set to announce a major move.

LIV Golf could be set for another major announcement
While LIV Golf have not made the moves on players many expected this year, they have signed YouTube star Rick Shiels to a deal.
Shiels shocked the golfing world with his announcement last week and he’s now going to be the chief content creator for LIV as they look to tap into the world of social media a bit more.
However, it is the final spot on Rahm’s team that is causing debate and former player Colt Knost has taken to X today to claim LIV are about to announce their biggest off-season move yet.
Quite what that move will be remains to be seen, while there’s an element of potential sarcasm in Knost’s post as well.
One fan joked that LIV are forming their own TGL team.
While another fan claimed we could see Pat Perez move into the commentary box.
“Okay…Pat Perez to the booth is a big offseason move for LIV. He should help their telecasts bc he’s true to his character, funny and on point. Speaking of the Biggest offseason move though – has FOX confirmed the broadcast deal? Haven’t heard from them yet”
Whether or not it’s a player being signed though, remains to be seen, with a number of big names linked in recent months.
The players from the PGA Tour linked with moves to LIV Golf
The strongest link to in terms of a new signing for LIV from the PGA Tour was that of Tony Finau.
Finau had apparently signed a deal with LIV Golf but those rumours went quiet and in the end, fizzled out into nothing.
Beyond that, it’s hard to tell. Viktor Hovland has spoken of his openness in joining LIV but that would be a big surprise move at this moment in time.
Intriguingly, the biggest rumour on social platforms lately has been around Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele has been suggested as moving to LIV after missing the opening few weeks of the season but with his TGL commitments and the fact he won two majors in 2024, this move would also be a huge surprise.
The most likely announcement in reality is around Tom McKibbin. McKibbin is expected to sign a $5m deal with LIV and complete the rosters for 2025.
