Keegan Bradley is the Team USA captain for the Ryder Cup in 2025 but there is also the very realistic chance he ends up going over to play as well.
Bradley enjoyed a fine year in 2024 and is very much in contention to play as long as he can do well this coming season.
For Bradley, who surprised the likes of Rickie Fowler after being picked as captain initially, the chance to play and captain the side is something he’s fully aware might happen.
Of course, for now, Bradley has the next 8-10 months to prepare and get things in order in terms of being purely a non-playing captain.
But the American has conceded that should he end up playing, it’s something that’s been factored in to his planning anyway.

Keegan Bradley makes vice captain admission ahead of Ryder Cup 2025
Speaking alongside Luke Donald in a press conference to effectively launch hype for the tournament, Bradley was asked if there was a ‘plan B’ for if he ends up playing.
And according to Bradley, that is factoring in his vice-captain and support selections.
“You know, every vice captain that I am choosing will know that this is a possibility. So they will know what’s going on in that way. I also have John Wood who has come on,” Bradley said.
“But I think my vice captains are all going to be more than capable of doing this, and I hope some day they will all be captains.
“But again, we’re so far away from that that I’m really focused on being a captain right now.”
Bradley himself has confirmed he will indeed have six captains picks alongside the six best players who automatically qualify.
Bradley can do both and still deliver
To be a captain and also play is a big task for anyone and it requires a certain amount of energy and dedication to do it well.
In Keegan Bradley, the US very much have someone who brings those things to the table.
Yes, there is the distraction of playing yourself and wondering what is going on around the rest of the course.

But as Bradley says, he has picked vice-captains who he feels will deliver for him if needed and as with any Ryder Cup, it is a team sport where everyone plays a part.
Should Bradley play, then, you can imagine he’ll be ably supported by those vice-captains.
