Keegan Bradley says what home fans will do at the 2025 Ryder Cup if Team USA are not winning

Keegan Bradley is in high spirits ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup, which takes place in New York next September.

Bradley is 14th in the world golf rankings after his US Team won the Presidents Cup, beating the International Team in Montreal last month.

The American certainly stands a chance of playing at the tournament, but Bradley is focusing on his Ryder Cup captaincy.

Bradley has taken over the Team USA captain’s role from Zach Johnson, who lost out to opposite number Luke Donald in 2023.

The Englishman guided Team Europe to the Ryder Cup trophy in Rome last September, with the hosts winning 16½-11½.

It is, however, Team USA on home soil this time around, with captain Bradley expecting big things from the supporters in New York.

He has, however, confirmed that there will be observers inside the ropes to ensure a fair event for both teams, with Bradley telling BBC Sport: “The PGA of America has things in place for each group to monitor the situation and if you act inappropriately you’re going to be asked to leave the tournament.

“I hope and expect the fans will respect what the guys are doing but also at the same time be lively and supporting our team.

“This is a tough place for us to play. These New York fans are going to expect us to win and they will let their home team know if they are upset.

“It’s not a concern but something you’re definitely aware of. If you go watch [basketball’s New York] Knicks or [American football’s New York] Giants play they’re not interested in not winning.”

Plenty of pressure will, therefore, be on Bradley and his players, with failure seemingly not an option at Bethpage Black.

The Team Europe fans played a key role in Rome last time out, with Donald and his players fully aware of just how much they helped towards the success.

Bradley will be desperate for the tides to turn in New York, but the Team USA captain has no doubts about those cheering on his side.

“This is going to be an atmosphere unlike anything you’ve ever seen and it’s going to be fun for both sides,” he added. “The New York fans are going to be super-passionate and cheering us on extremely hard.”
