Keegan Bradley’s impressive performance at the PGA Championship has cast doubt on his Ryder Cup future.

Bradley was announced as the United States team captain for the upcoming competition last year, and he seems enthusiastic about that challenge.

But the 38-year-old has not denied that he would much rather be playing at Bethpage, or potentially doing both jobs.

He shared whether that’s on his mind after the final round at the PGA Championship on Sunday.

Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup dream is still alive after PGA Championship

Bradley is currently well outside the qualification places for the United States team ahead of Bethpage, but he closed the gap at the PGA Championship.

His top-10 finish at Quail Hollow was worth plenty of points and kept his dream of playing in golf’s greatest competition alive.

“Yeah, I don’t know,” Bradley responded to questions over whether he could play for and captain the US. “I’m just trying to be a player right now. Honestly, it’s not even crossing my mind at this point.”

It’s hard to believe, but he said it’s not on his mind at the moment, and won’t be until the end-of-season FedEx Cup Playoffs.

“No. I’m the captain right now,” he added. “If we get down to the Playoffs and I’m in the picture, then I’ll start thinking about it. But I’m thinking of myself as a player first.”

Keegan Bradley comments on Scottie Scheffler after PGA Championship final round

With his Ryder Cup captain’s hat on, Bradley was pleased to see several American players perform well at Quail Hollow.

And none did better than Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship by five shots over Harris English, Bryson DeChambeau, and Davis Riley.

Bradley did not have much focus on the leaderboard during the final round, but he was “thrilled” to see Scheffler win the Wanamaker trophy.

“I’m trying to do my own thing out there because I got off to such a bad start that I really had no chance to catch Scottie, but I think he’s got a big lead right now, which I’m thrilled about,” he added.

At the time, Scheffler was struggling slightly, and Bradley said that was to be expected considering the “tough” conditions.

“No [it’s not surprising],” he explained. “It’s so tough out there. I don’t have the details, but he got himself back together, and he’s going to win by a good mile, hopefully.”
