Justin Thomas can undoubtedly learn a lot from compatriot Scottie Scheffler after the latter’s phenomenal achievements this season.

Scheffler still wants to improve despite dominating the 2024 PGA Tour season, with the American boasting eight wins this year.

He emerged victorious at the likes of the Masters, the Olympics, The Players Championship and the Tour Championship.

Scheffler also helped the US Team beat the International Team at last month’s Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal, Canada.

Thomas is currently in high spirits but is yet to taste success in 2024, with the two-time major winner coming closest at the very beginning of the year.

What Justin Thomas learned from Scottie Scheffler at The Players Championship

He finished T3 at The American Express, with the former world number one clinching five top-10 finishes overall.

Thomas now turns his focus to the Zozo Championship, but did take time in his press conference to look back on Scheffler’s win at The Players earlier this year.

The duo played together at the event, with Thomas saying of the current world number one: “It didn’t really come up until our third hole on Friday. I remember he hit this tee shot and it was like the most absurd follow-through I have ever seen.

“I was audibly laughing as I thought it was one of his patented follow-throughs only to find out it was his neck and then I felt pretty bad. It was really cool and I honestly felt I learnt a lot as it just reminded me of watching somebody get their way around a golf course when they don’t have their best stuff.

“That’s something I think I have been and I am very good at at times. Over the course of a long career, winning tournaments when you don’t have your best stuff is a really big accomplishment and it brings a lot of confidence.

“Watching that first-hand, watching him truly plot his way around the course and not taking on anything that he shouldn’t was impressive but to do that at a tournament like The Players was even more so.”

Scheffler undoubtedly still has plenty to give before the year comes to an end, having won more than half of his career PGA Tour wins in 2024.

He boasts a stunning 16 top-10 finishes so far, having made all 19 cuts from his PGA Tour events this season.

Thomas meanwhile has 15 of 19 cuts to his name, with a strong finish to the season now being eyed by the world number 32.

And that begins at the Zozo Championship this week, with the American already in Japan for the latest FedEx Cup Fall event.

But coming out on top at the Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club won’t be an easy task, with Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa also in the field.
