Justin Thomas will be desperate to win his third major championship in two weeks’ time at the US Open.
Thomas has rediscovered some of his best form this season, and won the Signature Event at the RBC Heritage back in April.
Last month, Thomas was sending strong messages to his rivals as major season began to ramp up.
However, the 32-year-old endured a really disappointing PGA Championship at Quail Hollow, missing the cut as Scottie Scheffler went on to win comfortably.
Thomas admitted that he has been struggling with pulls to the left recently – a shot that will be detrimental to his hopes of winning the US Open.

And it will be interesting to see whether or not he has managed to fix that this week at the Memorial Tournament.
Thomas has seemingly already been preparing for the test that awaits at Oakmont next month.
Justin Thomas confirms the rumours about Oakmont are true ahead of the US Open
The two-time major champion will undoubtedly feel like he needs to win another major aside from the PGA Championship in order to be truly revered by both golf fans and his peers.
Thomas is a proven winner, with 16 PGA Tour victories to his name already.
Whilst his immediate attention will be on making that 17 this week at Muirfield Village, he definitely has one eye on winning at Oakmont in two weeks’ time.
The American told reporters how he has already undertaken a scouting mission of the tricky layout in Pennsylvania.
He said, “I actually went to Oakmont yesterday. I got in Monday. Generally, this place doesn’t change very much. I think that the years I haven’t played well here, I don’t think it’s necessarily from a lack of course knowledge. It’s more of an execution standpoint. Practice rounds in especially U.S. Opens have gotten pretty long and can be a little difficult to get all the work done that week, so I felt like it was a better use of my time, and Rev and I just took a day trip, just went and played it yesterday.

“It’s still tough. I would say all of the rumours and everything are pretty on point. Yeah, I couldn’t tell you a par-3 over 250 yards that’s good, I would say, architecturally. Obviously, you have 16 at Cypress Point is pretty special, but I definitely think there’s some potential viewing reasons that makes it, you know, a great hole. So I’m a big short par-3 guy. I think a lot of us and — a lot of players and people that watch golf are. Yeah, I just, that’s my opinion.“
He was then asked if he played the 299-yard par three eighth hole from the back tees.
Thomas said, “I did. Yeah, that’s not my favourite hole in the world. I think you could do some other things with that. But everyone’s going to have to play the same hole and going to have to execute the same shots, and I would love four 3s on it right now if I could take it.“
Thomas is clearly desperate to get his hands on the US Open trophy, and if he brings his best stuff to Oakmont, he will definitely have a chance of doing just that.
Justin Thomas’s 2025 PGA Tour stats
Thomas has six top-10s to his name in 12 events played this season, including one win.
His stats look very good, and it’s clear to see that he’s back to somewhere near his best.
| PGA Tour statistical category | Justin Thomas rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 100th |
| Strokes gained approach | 5th |
| Strokes gained putting | 17th |
| Strokes gained total | 3rd |
| Scoring average | 8th |
If Thomas finds a way to clean up his driving of the golf ball, he will take his game to the next level.
The 16-time PGA Tour winner has pretty much every single tool in the bag needed to succeed at the very highest level of the game.
However, he has clearly struggled off the tee this season, and his problems with the driver have prevented him from winning even more.
