Jon Rahm is one of the world’s most successful golfers of the modern era but even the very best feel pressure at times.

We’ve seen over the years how pressure can impact the very best in the game, and you only have to look at Rory McIlroy at the US Open this year as a prime example.

Rahm, of course, has won a Masters, a US Open, and been part of Ryder Cup winning teams with Team Europe.

It’s safe to say, then, that the Spaniard is not shy of producing in the big moments but when it comes to nerves, there’s only one place for Rahm when it comes to the jitters getting in the way.

Jon Rahm shares if the Masters of Ryder Cup makes him more nervous

Rahm was asked on the latest Bob Does Sports video if his final day at Augusta before winning the Masters was his most nerve-wracking moment.

However, Rahm went for another event, insisting that it is the Ryder Cup that brings the pressure.

“No, stroke play is a little different. There is other moments during a round. It’s the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup is the most nerve wracking. Just the moment and what it is,” Rahm said.

Jon Rahm’s record in The Masters and Ryder Cups

When it comes to the Masters, Rahm has an unbelievable record despite winning just the once in 2023.

In eight attempts at winning at Augusta, Rahm has won once, and finished inside the top ten on another four occasions. All those top tens came consecutively as well, with a 4th in 2018, 9th in 2019, 7th in 2020 and 5th in 2021 proving his worth.

Indeed, Rahm has never missed the cut, with his worst finish coming at this year’s event, where he came 45th.

As for Ryder Cups, Rahm’s record is a bit patchier. In 2018, he won just a single point, although it did see him defeat Tiger Woods in singles action.

In Europe’s losing effort in 2021, Rahm actually shone, being Europe’s top player with 3.5 points although he did lose heavily to Scottie Scheffler in singles action.

Fast forward to 2023 when Europe won in Rome, and Rahm was once again key. Rahm once again did well, scoring three points for his team from four matches, including a crucial half with Scottie Scheffler in the singles.

Rahm, then, is very much a man for the occasion despite his admission of nerves at Ryder Cups.
