Jon Rahm and Cam Smith have both made very strong starts to LIV Golf Singapore, but it is Dustin Johnson who finds himself at the top of the pile after round one.

Johnson, the 4Aces GC captain, leads the way at LIV Golf Singapore on eight-under, followed by Torque GC’s Sebastian Munoz on five-under.

Smith and Rahm, the respective Ripper GC and Legion XIII captains, are tied for third, but are joined by a long list of others.

That includes fellow LIV Golf captains Joaquin Niemann, Louis Oosthuizen and defending champion Brooks Koepka.

Koepka can’t believe he led the putting statistics heading into the tournament, having become the first player to win four LIV Golf titles with last year’s success.

Jon Rahm jokes with Cam Smith over who can hit the worst wedge shot

Sentosa Golf Club plays host to the latest LIV Golf event, with the tour having already been to Riyadh, Adelaide and Hong Kong this season.

And Rahm has referenced last week’s event in his latest press conference in Singapore, having been asked if he’s working on his wedges given that he’s been losing shots from 150 yards in.

“Yeah, it’s something we always work on,” he replied. “Because usually I’m so good off the tee, I leave myself a higher number of wedge shots, and the difference between gaining shots and losing shots when it comes to distance from the pin is not that big.

“I would say so far this year, I haven’t played my best. I haven’t felt as comfortable as I would like, and it’s showed in my wedge game, especially last week.

“I hit some really bad ones. Me and Cam were joking on the second round in Hong Kong saying we were just competing to see who hits the worst wedge shot today because we hit some bad ones.

“It’s something to keep an eye on because if you want to contend and win and especially win majors, you need that part of your game.”

Where does Jon Rahm rank for LIV Golf greens in regulation %?

The Spaniard can afford to joke about his game right now given his strong start to the 2025 LIV Golf season.

Rahm currently occupies second spot in the player standings, behind only fellow Spanish icon Sergio Garcia.

He has finishes of T2, 6 and T6 so far, with Australian Smith way down in 37th after his finishes of T25, 30 and T20.

Rahm has many areas of his game to thank, with the former world number one sitting T3 for the average number of birdies per round.

And the 30-year-old sits solo third for greens in regulation %, with 125/162 greens hit ahead of LIV Golf Singapore.
