Jon Rahm hails Tyrrell Hatton for doing something ‘spectacular’ while playing alongside him at the Ryder Cup

Team Europe extended their lead in the 2025 Ryder Cup on Saturday, partly thanks to Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. 

Rahm and Hatton had already won a foursomes match on Friday morning, so European captain Luke Donald sent them out again.

The LIV Golf duo then delivered another point for Team Europe with a 3&2 victory over Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele.

Rahm led by example, performing the best of the four players, but Hatton also contributed a lot to the result.

The Spaniard has since praised his playing partner for doing something “spectacular” in their latest foursomes match.

Rahm’s incredible chip-in was the highlight of his and Hatton’s victory against Cantlay and Schauffele. 

The 30-year-old also played the most consistent golf throughout the round, with his approach play standing out.

However, Rahm could not have won without Hatton making some important putts to get them out of trouble.

“Yeah. I don’t know what else to say. It’s a joy to be able to play with them,” Rahm commented on his teammate.

“We’ve shared the golf course for many, many holes, and it’s absolutely incredible watching him play, and what he did on the greens today was nothing short of spectacular.

“At one point, we were basically out of the fairway and out of the green. We just somehow stayed in and stayed in and won some holes at the end.”

Hatton was delighted when he spoke to the media after winning his second point at the Ryder Cup.

“Yeah, it feels amazing to win our point this morning. To go against two incredible players,” he said.

“Yeah, I mean, ultimately, we’ve gone out there with a job to try and win a point for Europe. Just so happy that we are able to do that.”

Hatton also had some lovely things to say about his good friend Rahm, with whom he has formed such an impressive partnership.

“He’s certainly a good partner to play with,” he added. “He pulls out some unbelievable shots at very special times. He’s an incredible player and a good person to walk the fairways with.”
