Jon Rahm is firmly in contention after the second round of the Andalucia Masters at Sotogrande.
The LIV star bounced back from an error-stricken first round and made eight birdies on his way to an impressive six-under-par 66.
Rahm, however, sits seven shots back of Jorge Campillo. The Spaniard backed up his day one 64 with a 65 to take control of the tournament.
Nevertheless, Rahm remains confident and was pleased with his round on Friday in windy conditions.
Jon Rahm happy with opening round at the Andalucia Masters

Speaking during his post-round press conference, the Spaniard lauded his iron play, which had been sloppy in Thursday’s opening round.
“It was a really good round of golf,” Rahm said. “I was solid off the tee and gave myself a lot of chances, and my iron game was great. I hit two approaches to tap-ins, and my ball striking was good, which is what you need in windy conditions. I rolled in a couple of nice putts, and it was a shame to drop a shot on the last hole.
“I need to keep making birdies tomorrow, and you have to go low here whether it’s windy or not. Hopefully, I can repeat today’s round and maybe go even lower.”
Jon Rahm completes European Ryder Cup obligations at Andalucia Masters
After competing in this week’s Andalucia Masters, Rahm has met the requirements needed to maintain his DP World Tour card and eligibility for the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.
The Spaniard was a crucial part of Luke Donald’s 2023 side and will no doubt give Europe a significant boost if he’s available next September.
Rahm, however, will need to settle his current feud with the DP World Tour in 2025. The 29-year-old is reluctant to pay his outstanding fines, which could result in a similar situation when the new year rolls around.
An appeal has been lodged to the Wentworth authorities, and time will tell whether the Spaniard will be required to settle his debts.
