One of Keegan Bradley’s key roles at Bethpage Black will be to get the most out of world number one Scottie Scheffler during Ryder Cup week.

Bradley is quite obviously desperate to guide his US team to victory at the Ryder Cup later this month, and their chances of winning will depend heavily on Scheffler‘s form up in New York State at Bethpage Black.

The 29-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has a fairly underwhelming Ryder Cup record to his name, with only two wins from seven matches played.

And he will be determined to improve upon that record at Bethpage.

Scheffler is incredibly excited to play in the Ryder Cup this month, and it has been claimed that he has already taken on more of a leadership role behind the scenes.

There is definitely more of a cohesive feel to the US team this time around than there has been in years gone past, and much of that is down to Bradley.

Scheffler has spoken very highly about the Ryder Cup captain’s positive impact so far. The 18-time PGA Tour winner would undoubtedly have had plenty of chats with Bradley regarding who he wants to play with at Bethpage.

Scottie Scheffler could partner five-time PGA Tour winner at the Ryder Cup

Johnson Wagner was speaking about the upcoming Ryder Cup during an appearance on the 5 Clubs Podcast.

It was put to Wagner that Scheffler could partner up with Sam Burns at Bethpage.

However, the former PGA Tour player wasn’t on board with that suggestion in the slightest.

Wagner explained: I don’t think we’re going to see Scheffler and Burns play together, I think Scheffler and Henley formed that incredible duo at the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal last year.

So I see Scheffler and Henley having big-time sessions together, I like them a lot.

Henley, a five-time PGA Tour winner, is a remarkably consistent player, and his arrow straight driving compared with Scheffler’s supreme iron play could be a really potent combination at Bethpage.

Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley Ryder Cup partnership makes perfect sense

Scheffler is the best iron player in the world, by quite a long way as well.

Meanwhile, there are not many straighter drivers of the golf ball than Henley.

The man from Macon, Georgia, was ranked 9th in driving accuracy in 2025 on the PGA Tour, 9th in 2024 and 1st in the 2022-23 season.

Henley is an incredible iron player as well, and has only been ranked outside the top 20 in strokes gained approach once since the 2018-19 season.

Combine that with Scheffler’s driving – the world number one was ranked first in strokes gained off the tee in 2025, and you’re left with a partnership that no European player will want to come up against.

And we haven’t even mentioned the two players’ putting yet either! Scheffler has transformed himself into a very good putter, and finished in 18th spot in strokes gained on the greens in 2025 while Henley is well known for being one of the best in the business with his flat-stick in hand.

Scheffler and Henley playing alongside one another for the US Ryder Cup team at Bethpage Black later this month is an absolute no-brainer.
