Jon Rahm is one of the LIV Golf players looking to win the PGA Championship this week and he’s been speaking about the course ahead of tee off.

Rahm will be one of the players to watch and it remains to be seen what sort of form he’ll bring to the table after moving to LIV at the start of the year.

The Spaniard – who can make it three of the four majors won by winning at Valhalla – will be keen to make his mark and show he very much can still compete with and beat the top PGA players.

Of course, the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy – who has won the PGA at Valhalla before – will be out to stop him.

Valhalla is expected to bring a tough test for everyone. And plotting a way around and avoiding the deep rough could be key for every golfer out there.

And speaking about the course after his practice round, Rahm has admitted to being impressed so far.

Jon Rahm says Valhalla is in ‘incredible shape’ ahead of PGA Championship tee off

Speaking in his press conference ahead of playing the PGA, Rahm spoke on how he’s found the actual course at Valhalla so far.

“So far, great golf course. You get an idea of how a golf course may look on the TV and it’s just as good if not better than I saw on TV. It’s in incredible shape, hopefully we don’t get too much water today and tomorrow and it can stay like this,” Rahm said.

“It presents a challenge. There has been low scores in the past and I can see it, because if you drive it will you give yourself chances but it is definitely an enjoyable”

Adding further context to his comments, Rahm then compared Valhalla to the experience of playing at Medinah.

“It’s hard because there is a difference between the front and back nine.

“When I was going down 10 and 11 I did get a similar feel to Medinah in some places. You have the big trees, it’s a big property. It’s not an exact comparison but Medinah is the one which came to mind first.”

Rahm can win at the PGA

It’s easy to forget just how good Jon Rahm is now he’s over in LIV and perhaps not on our TV screens as much.

But rest assured, this is a player who can turn up and dominate if he gets going. He was world number one before Scottie Scheffler and even losing points by moving to LIV, he is still fifth on the OWGR’s official world ranking.

Rahm has won The Masters and the US Open already alongside another nine PGA Tour wins, as well as another eight on the DP World Tour. He’s also putting extremely well at this moment in time.

The Spaniard, then, is very much a player to watch and if he’s liking the course, then his confidence will get up and that’s where he becomes a dangerous player.
