Joel Dahmen was involved in a bizarre incident during the first day of the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin.
The American was handed a four-shot penalty after realising he had an extra four-iron in his bag, taking him over the 14-club limit.
Dahmen’s caddie Geno is a popular figure on the PGA Tour and is well-known by fans after the Netflix hit series Full Swing.
Dahmen was asked about the incident during his post-round press conference and admitted he wanted to blame Geno.

Speaking to the press on Thursday evening, Dahmen made an interesting claim about his caddie.
“I travel with 15, 16 clubs. I think most people out here do, depending on conditions and courses. You know, I’ve been travelling out here for a long time, and it has never happened before. I’d like it to blame Geno. That would be the easy thing to do. It’s not his fault either,” Dahmen explained.
“I played Tuesday and Wednesday out here. We didn’t see it in there. It was an extra 4-iron, so I had two 4-irons in the bag.”
The American then revealed he had no idea how the club ended up in his bag ahead of the first round.
Dahmen continued: “Why, I don’t know. I don’t know how it got there. It sucks. It sucks at the spot I’m in as well. Yeah, we got to four tee, and I grabbed a water, and I walked over to my bag, and I saw a 4-iron that was in the wrong spot, and our staff is always in the right spot. It wasn’t in the right spot.”

After being docked four shots, Dahmen went on to card three bogeys and two birdies and currently sits second last in the field and 15 shots back of the lead.
“At the same time, just got to keep playing golf, and I didn’t do a great job of that afterwards,” Dahmen added.
“It’s tough to refocus. Shot 1-over if you take the penalties away, which is not very good out here today. It’s frustrating and disappointing, but if you play golf long enough, weird stuff will happen out here.”
Canadian Taylor Pendrith leads the way after carding a 10-under 61 in Las Vegas. Elsewhere, Tom Kim, who is looking to make PGA Tour history, is two under.
Rickie Fowler, who is playing his second FedEx Cup fall event, is five under.
