Joel Dahmen has revealed something different he’s been doing with his caddie Geno after shooting 65 on day two at the Canadian Open.
It was an excellent second round for the 36-year-old, who carded five birdies and recorded no dropped shots to place himself firmly in contention.
Dahmen sits two shots back of Ryan Fox and Scot Robert MacIntyre, who share the lead on ten under.
In what’s been a difficult season to date, Dahmen’s second round at Hamilton Golf and Country Club will no doubt be a highlight.
Joel Dahmen reacts to 65 at the Canadian Open

Speaking to the media immediately after his round, Dahmen revealed that he’s started being more committed to each shot.
He explained: “Being very committed to what I am doing and having a clear plan. It sounds weird that I’ve played golf for a long time without a clear strategy, maybe.
“It’s doing the same thing over and over again, and it’s worked out great.”
The star of Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ also revealed that he’s taking more time speaking to his caddy in his pre-shot routine.
“Everyone has a plan, right,” he added. “You aim, get a number and then you do this, but it’s just a little bit more in-depth. More conversation with Geno, pre-shot. Not getting into a shot or wondering halfway through a swing what I am doing.”
“It frees me up to play golf and let my body take over; my body knows what to do.”
Saturday at the Canadian Open could be huge for Joel Dahmen
After being portrayed brilliantly as the 181st best golfer in the world in ‘Full Swing’, Dahmen needs to make a play for the Canadian Open title this week.
With just one PGA Tour victory to his name, it’s evident that he lacks a killer instinct in the vital moments.
For example, on Saturday, the American failing to keep in touch with the leaders wouldn’t be a surprise; it’s something he’s done regularly before.
Now, a change is needed. He’s played his way into contention, and looking to land his second PGA Tour title has to be the aim.
Fans all over the world would love to see the likeable American finally show he’s got what it takes to compete at the highest level.
