Justin Rose is the latest high-profile name to speak about Xander Schauffele’s recent form ahead of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No.2.
The American hasn’t featured since his brilliant PGA Championship victory at Valhalla in the middle of May.
Schauffele is set to feature at Memorial next week before the year’s third major in North Carolina, where he will be amongst the favourites.
Rose also impressed at Valhalla, finishing T6 on 14-under-par after failing to keep pace with the leaders in the final round.
Now, the Englishman has shared what he noticed about Schauffele before he claimed his first major title.

Speaking on Rick Shiels’ Golf Show, Rose has lauded the American and insisted he deserved his maiden major victory in Louisville.
Rose said: “Look at Xander Schaffuele recently, unbelievable golfer. I can see that he’s been progressing and getting better. He hasn’t won a lot, but he’s a brilliant player. I think he deserves that major, 100%.”
The 2013 U.S. Open champion added: “But I think that takes him to the next level. I view him as a proper, proper, proper champion now.”
U.S. Open dress rehearsal at Muirfield Village next week
It will be good to see Schauffele back in action at the Memorial next week.
Muirfield Village will play host to a stacked field ahead of the U.S. Open, and the golfing world will know a lot more about who stands a chance at Pinehurst No.2 next Sunday.
After the excitement of Valhalla, the year’s third major can’t come around sooner enough.
In what is expected to be a more challenging test, an intriguing competition lies ahead, with precision required on Pinehurst’s devilishly sloped greens.
