Preparations for the 2025 Ryder Cup are now stepping up, with plenty of pressure on host team USA.

Controversy has already unfolded despite the competition being so far away, with the USA set to be paid $5million at the Ryder Cup.

Recent winner Shane Lowry says it is a privilege to play the Ryder Cup, with the European team not likely to receive payment for their participation.

Lowry helped Team Europe lift the iconic Ryder Cup trophy in Rome last September, where the hosts beat the visitors 16½ – 11½.

Winning captain Luke Donald has somewhat unsurprisingly kept hold of his role, but Keegan Bradley has replaced Zach Johnson in the US hot-seat.

Joel Dahmen issues 2025 Ryder Cup selection response

Bradley will certainly be feeling the heat as the competition draws nearer, with speculation ongoing about what his final team will look like.

And it seems that Joel Dahmen may have thrown his own hat into the ring, with the American reacting to Kyle Porter’s post on X asking: “Who is going to make the US Ryder Cup team next year that nobody saw coming?”

Dahmen simply responded: “Me,” with the 37-year-old having only just narrowly kept his PGA Tour card for 2025.

It is, of course, hard to know if Dahmen is being serious with his response, but there can be no doubting his confidence levels after his dramatic end to the 2024 PGA Tour season.

He needed a final-round 65 at The RSM Classic late last month to keep his place on the PGA Tour, with a poor finish on the Saturday putting him under real pressure.

But a Sunday 64 saw Dahmen clinch the 124th spot in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, with 125 cards available.

Having been projected number 128 ahead of the final round, such spirit would be warmly welcomed by many Ryder Cup fans, but he is certain to find himself behind a long list of players vying for the limited spots at Bethpage Black.

Dahmen’s fellow PGA Tour player and compatriot Harry Higgs joined in on the fun on social media, with the latter replying to the former: “Me too. We can be partners.”
