Jim Furyk will perhaps still be celebrating after guiding the US Team to the Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal.

Communication was key to the US Presidents Cup success, with the visitors beating the International Team 18.5-11.5.

Dan Rapaport named Patrick Cantlay the MVP of the team tournament, which took place in Canada last month.

It was a 10th successive Presidents Cup win for the US Team, who will have gained plenty of confidence ahead of the 2025 Ryder Cup.

A large selection of the US Team are likely to feature for Team USA this time next year, with Bethpage Black hosting the next edition of the Ryder Cup.

Why Jim Furyk laughed at Tony Finau at the Presidents Cup

Much like the Presidents Cup, team unity and camaraderie will be crucial to success against Team Europe.

And Furyk was certainly in high spirits in Royal Montreal, with the captain now looking back on one particularly funny moment with Tony Finau.

“That’s the difference when you are young,” he said on Good Good. “I watched Finau and it was cold. He hit a shot and it was 180mph. He said alright I’m going to rip one and see if I can get it to 190mph.

“He was on the 18th tee and he ripped one over the pond at Royal Montreal and he hit it 190mph exactly. I just started laughing. When you get to my age you try and hit I hard and get about an extra 2mph.”

Can Keegan Bradley learn from Presidents Cup captain Jim Furyk?

The International Team certainly gave Furyk and his players a scare at Royal Montreal, with the hosts having gone down to an early 5-0 deficit.

But they recovered superbly to level the scores at 5-5, only to once again go behind to their opponents, this time 11-7.

Furyk then guided the US Team to a fine win over Mike Weir’s side, as the victors continued their dominance at the Presidents Cup.

His compatriot Keegan Bradley will now be hoping for something similar at the Ryder Cup, with the American having holed the winning putt in Canada.
