Jack Nicklaus says he’s ‘delighted’ after what Tiger Woods has decided to do

Tiger Woods remains the biggest name in golf and another great of the game, Jack Nicklaus, has been praising the 15-time major winner.

As we all know, Woods only tails Nicklaus when it comes to major wins and it looks like Nicklaus is going to hold onto the number one spot as well, given Woods’ injury issues.

Of course, Tiger has taken up a more prominent role off the course in recent times.

He was central to the PGA Tour discussions and subsequent investment with SSG, and has been leading things for the Tour when it comes to LIV and PIF.

Now also a member of the PGA board, Woods has a bigger say than ever really.

And speaking about Woods’ ascension to board member, Nicklaus has shared his thoughts on the matter.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of The Memorial getting underway, Nicklaus commented on Woods now being involved at board level on the PGA Tour.

“You know, Tiger coming onto the board, Tiger’s had a lot of experience, he’s been around a long time, he’s not going to play as much anymore,” Nicklaus said.

“But he wants to contribute, and I think it’s great that he wants to contribute and be part of it. I think it’s great that the guys want him.

“I’m delighted to see him on the board and I think he’ll make a great contribution.”

Woods’ legacy in golf will continue for some time yet

One of the greatest players to ever do it and also the biggest name in the history of the sport was always going to keep having an impact and that’s what’s happening here.

Tiger Woods is simply exerting his influence to the very top now and in the main, it should be good for golf.

Tiger has been around one of the biggest booms in the sport’s history and understands the commercial side of things as well as the playing side.

That mix should be useful for Woods while he’s on the board and you’d hope that golf as a whole will benefit from Woods being around at that level.

He might be struggling to have an impact on the course right now. But off it, Tiger’s opinion and legacy will matter for some time yet.
