Rumors are circulating that Brooks Koepka could be set to return to the PGA Tour at some point in the near future.
Koepka jumped ship from the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf back in June 2022 and his 2023 PGA Championship victory aside, he has really struggled with his game.
After three years with the Saudi-backed golf league, Koepka is said to be eyeing up a PGA Tour return in 2026.
His contract with LIV runs until the end of next year, so it remains to be seen whether he is able to break his deal before it comes to an end.
What would the impact of Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf be?
Interestingly, Koepka changed his opinion on LIV very quickly after leaving the PGA Tour, suggesting that he was more than happy with his decision.
However, three years down the line, that really doesn’t seem to be the case.
Koepka may well want a return to the PGA Tour, but is the feeling mutual? Jack Nicklaus made some interesting comments on the five-time major champion back in 2023.

If Koepka decides to sever ties with LIV Golf, it would be a big blow for them.
However, would the PGA Tour even want the five-time major champion back?
Who better to ask than the man whom many regard as the greatest golfer of all time.
Nicklaus congratulated Koepka after his win at Oak Hill and often warmly greets the many LIV golfers who are still members at his Bears Club in Florida.
Not long after Koepka’s fifth major win, Nicklaus spoke to reporters ahead of his tournament at Muirfield Village.
“I don’t really consider those guys part of the game anymore; and I don’t mean that in a nasty way … or really mean it that way,” Nicklaus insisted.
“To me, this is a PGA Tour event and we’ve got the best field we can possibly have on the PGA Tour.
“Those who are eligible to be here. The other guys made a choice to go where they went. We don’t really talk about it.
“There were certain players that it was probably the right thing for,” he added.
“It probably spurred the PGA Tour, I don’t think there’s any question about that, either, to move it to greater heights. But it wasn’t for me, it wasn’t for what my legacy was. Obviously, I pretty much started what the Tour is out here.”
The PGA Tour would be well served to look back at those comments from Nicklaus.
With PGA Tour viewing figures booming, it’s fair to argue that they haven’t missed Koepka one little bit since he joined LIV.
So what incentive do the PGA Tour have to facilitate Koepka’s return? The answer to that question is that there probably isn’t one.
Brooks Koepka results in major championships since he joined LIV
Koepka is one of only two LIV golfers to have won a major championship since joining the Saudi-backed league, along with Bryson DeChambeau, of course.
However, the five-time major winner has mostly struggled in the four biggest events on the golfing calendar since June 2022.

Koepka lives for winning major championships. The thought of winning the biggest trophies is what keeps him going.
Perhaps he has awoken to the realisation that playing on the PGA Tour rather than LIV Golf will provide him with the best chance of winning majors regularly.
Whether he is able to break his LIV Golf contract early or not remains to be seen, though.
