Brooks Koepka left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in June 2022.

However, Koepka‘s form has regressed badly during his time with LIV Golf, aside from his 2023 PGA Championship victory, of course.

It came as a huge shock to everyone when a report claimed on Monday that Koepka could be eyeing up a PGA Tour return.

The five-time major winner cut a frustrated figure on LIV throughout the 2025 season.

What would the impact of Brooks Koepka leaving LIV Golf be?

However, he is still under contract with the Saudi-backed golf league until the end of 2026.

Whether he will be able to break that contract remains to be seen.

And if he is, how will the PGA Tour facilitate his return? Surely he won’t be allowed to just come back and play in all of the big events again.

It has been suggested that Koepka and co won’t be equity holders in the PGA Tour like the current members are, if they decide they want to come back.

It will be fascinating to see how all of this plays out but in the here and now, it’s worth rolling back the clock to 2022, when Koepka was still on the PGA Tour.

What Brooks Koepka said about the PGA Tour before joining LIV Golf

In February 2022, Koepka was asked by journalists about LIV Golf, as rumors began to circulate about some of the big names who might be jumping ship from the PGA Tour.

The 35-year-old made it very clear that LIV Golf was not for him.

He said: It’s been pretty clear for a long time now that I’m with the PGA Tour, it’s where I’m staying. I’m very happy. I think they do things the right way. People I want to do business with. I’m happy to be here.

Then the Floridian went on to insinuate that anybody who joins LIV will be ‘selling out’.

Koepka said of LIV Golf: “They’ll get their guys. Somebody will sell out and go to it.

He must feel silly about making those comments now, especially with a return to the PGA Tour potentially on the cards.

The partisan opinions that numerous people hold about the two Tours is actually one of the biggest problems we have.

Professional golf would be in a better place if every golfer just played where they wanted to without fear of reprisal.

What Brooks Koepka said after he joined LIV Golf

Following his big-money move to LIV Golf, Koepka’s opinion drastically changed.

The power of money really is an amazing thing, isn’t it?

Do you think Brooks Koepka is a hypocrite after the comments he made about the PGA Tour and LIV?

Opinions change. I feel very comfortable with the decision I made. I’m happy, and did what’s best for me,” Koepka said.

It was only four or five months before those comments when he was saying how happy he was on the PGA Tour.

And now, the rumors about Koepka potentially leaving LIV to return to the PGA Tour are continuing to gather momentum.

Could the 35-year-old change his mind yet again and make disparaging comments about LIV Golf, if he does indeed return to the PGA Tour?

Or will he just be honest about the fact that every golfer has the right to play where they want to play?

That remains to be seen.
