Scottie Scheffler won the BMW Championship last week after yet another dominant display, and he did so with stand-in caddie Mike Cromie on the bag.
Ted Scott is back home with his family attending to a personal matter, so Scheffler had to call upon Chris Kirk’s caddie – Mike Cromie, to fill in at the BMW Championship.
The 29-year-old American chased down Robert MacIntyre during the final round at Caves Valley to win his 18th PGA Tour title since February 2022.
Scheffler has now joined a select group of players after his BMW Championship win, becoming only the fourth man in history to win at least 12 PGA Tour titles and three majors over a two-season span.
While the Texan is showered with praise for his remarkable consistency, it was a moment of Tiger Woods-like brilliance from Scheffler that sealed him the BMW Championship trophy.
After missing the green long and left on the 17th hole with a one-shot lead at the time, Scheffler faced an incredibly difficult chip.
However, the world number one pulled off a miraculous shot to hole out and delivered the knockout blow to Macintyre in the process.
Scottie Scheffler’s stand-in caddie Mike Cromie receives BMW Championship windfall
Cromie has been on Kirk’s bag since June 2020.

However, after his boss missed out on the BMW Championship, he agreed to fill in for Scott on Scheffler’s bag.
Scheffler spoke before the BMW Championship about how Cromie was making a huge effort to try and familiarise himself with the way that he works.
And that obviously paid off. It was a successful and very lucrative week for Scheffler, and indeed for Cromie.
Cromie will be waking up this morning a lot richer than when he agreed to loop for the four-time major champion.
Here’s how much Kirk’s caddie earned last week in Baltimore, after Scheffler pocketed the $3.6 million winner’s cheque:
It will be interesting to know whether Cromie received any kind of bonus on top of that as well, after Scheffler was handed an extra $5 million for leading the FedEx Cup race following the conclusion of the BMW Championship.
How much has Scottie Scheffler’s regular caddie Ted Scott earned in 2025
Back in July, Michael Kim offered an insight into how much PGA Tour players actually take home from their winnings.
It works out at just under half, with a player who earns $5 million ending up with $2.4 million after taxes and outgoings including payments made to their caddie.
Scheffler has made $23,962,883 through tournament winnings so far this season.
Let’s say that Scott receives the usual 10% of whatever Scheffler makes on the course.
Taking off the money the world number one earned from his win at the BMW, Scott would have received around $2.2 million this season so far, including the $135 basic salary he receives (National Club Golfer).
However, it would be no surprise if Scheffler has paid Scott more than that, considering the $23 million in bonuses he has been paid over the past two weeks on top of his on-course earnings.
Either way, Scott would still be inside the top-70 on the PGA Tour money list with his earnings after Scheffler’s remarkable form this season.
Not a bad season’s work for Scott. Whether or not he will be back on Scheffler’s bag for the Tour Championship remains to be seen, though.
Cromie might just be hoping that his employment with the world number one is extended for another week!
