Scottie Scheffler was quite simply too good for Robert MacIntyre in the end at the BMW Championship.
Scheffler is the undisputed number one in the world for good reason, and he proved that with his dominant display at the BMW Championship this week.
MacIntyre wasn’t at the races at Caves Valley on Sunday afternoon, but Scheffler still had to overturn a four-shot deficit over the final 18 holes.
Scheffler and MacIntyre were put on the clock on day three of the BMW Championship, and that really angered the four-time major winner.
A frustrated, riled up Scheffler is not what MacIntyre needed ahead of the final round in Baltimore on Sunday, that’s for sure.

MacIntyre had his own problems at the BMW Championship on Saturday, after being heckled by a certain section of American fans.
However, it was the 29-year-old from Dallas, Texas, who blocked out the noise to win the 18th PGA Tour event of his career on Sunday.
Robert MacIntyre makes comment on Scottie Scheffler’s chip-in at the BMW Championship
Scheffler led MacIntyre by one stroke heading into the final two holes at the BMW Championship on Sunday.
Both players missed the 17th green long and left.
However, Scheffler produced a moment of magic when he holed out from an almost impossible position, and in doing so, he ended the Scot’s hopes of winning the tournament.
MacIntyre was brave enough to face up to the media after his poor final round of 73 left him in second place alone.
The 29-year-old was asked what he thought of Scheffler’s chip-in on the 17th.

He said: “Yeah, he’s hit a great shot. Nothing you can do with that. I just didn’t play good enough.
“Walking up I think it’s 15, I’m talking to myself. I wasn’t nice to myself up until that point. Scottie has missed a putt, and then I’m like, right, if you were given one shot back going up 15 at the start of the week, would you have taken it? 100 percent I would have taken it. Yes, I had the lead, but it doesn’t matter until the final putt on the 18th green and the 72nd hole. I still had a chance.
“When he’s pitched that in on 17 and then he’s hit the perfect tee shot on 18, it’s pretty much game over just then. You’re playing for second place at that point.“
Scheffler just wore MacIntyre down in the end, and his hole-out on the 17th was the knockout blow from the American.
Robert MacIntyre responds to hecklers after BMW Championship defeat to Scottie Scheffler
As mentioned earlier, MacIntyre had to deal with hecklers during his round on Saturday.
And it allegedly happened again on Sunday.
It was put to MacIntyre that he was heckled by ONE person on the 12th hole, and the Scot responded sarcastically.
He said: “How many?“
MacIntyre was then asked if he believes the security did a good enough job of controlling the overly boisterous fans on the property.
The Scot responded curtly, saying: “I’m not going to comment.“
The final round of the BMW Championship was disastrous for MacIntyre, as he got a first-hand view of Scheffler’s brilliance.
However, the good news is that he will learn more about himself and his game from losing this week than he would have done had he won the tournament.
