Anthony Kim is due to tee it up in Jeddah as part of the LIV Golf series this weekend but his inclusion hasn’t gone down well everywhere.
Despite Kim’s return bringing eyeballs to the event, something LIV are keen to do, the return of a player who hasn’t played for more than a decade has also brought plenty of opinion.
Naturally, there are those who feel that the return of Kim is good for LIV and golf in general. Indeed, plenty of people will be tuning in to see how he does, which is what LIV needs and wants.
However, speaking on the Rough Cut Podcast, popular golf YouTuber Peter Finch has said that while he’s got some interest in seeing Kim’s return, it pretty much sums up where golf is at the moment.

Anthony Kim return sums up the bad place golf is in right now
Speaking about the return of the American, Finch admitted that while there’s an element of interest, overall, it’s just a sorry state of affairs the game has got itself into.
“He is going to be playing this week and it kind of goes to show how messed up golf is at the moment when the biggest talking point is a player from 15 years ago, who has semi mythical status within the game, is coming back and playing on a rival tour and everyone is excited about it. This might be the only thing recently which would actually getting me watching an event,” Finch said.
The game itself is at something of an impasse right now.
Both the PGA and LIV Tours, as well the DP World Tour, are loaded with talent but there is a feeling now that it’s all just become about money over titles and legacies. Indeed, Kim is set to earn around £5m simply just for signing on.
Finch has voiced his concern on those matters quite a lot as well, having recently mentioned the £50m Tyrrell Hatton deal as another indication of the way the game is now perceived.
The follow up to Kim’s return this weekend will be interesting. But as Finch says, there are wider issues at large within the game right now that need resolving.
