Rory McIlroy’s impressive form shows no sign of letting up after the Northern Irishman cruised to victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Starting the final round in a share for the lead, McIlroy gradually pulled away from Shane Lowry and Sepp Straka. A stunning eagle on the tricky par-five 14th proved decisive and gave McIlroy some breathing room heading down the 72nd hole.
McIlroy appeared relaxed and ensured he steered clear of any mistakes during the closing stretch of holes on the Monterey Peninsula.
After four wins in 2024, the new year is off to a perfect start for McIlroy. Now, his attention will turn to The Players Championship and the Masters Tournament at Augusta National.
How many wins Rory McIlroy has in the past five years compared to Scottie Scheffler

McIlroy’s victory at Pebble Beach means he’s picked up 12 worldwide wins since January 1 2020, which is the same number as LIV Golf star Jon Rahm.
McIlroy is still five victories back from Scottie Scheffler, however. The world number one won seven times on the PGA Tour last year, as well as picking up the Olympic gold medal and Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
Scheffler, making his first PGA Tour start of 2025, finished in a tie for 9th at Pebble Beach (15 under). The 28-year-old is now pain-free after damaging his hand on Christmas Day.
Rory McIlroy’s 2024 record after the Masters
What happened at the 2024 US Open will cloud what McIlroy did through last year. Had his par putt dropped at Pinehurst, a very different story would have been told.
In 20 starts since the 2024 Masters, McIlroy has finished in the top five 12 times, won four times, and missed one cut, which came at the 2024 Open.
Right now, the Northern Irishman is the game’s most in-form player and is undoubtedly Scheffler’s most significant threat ahead of the first major of the year.
The challenge for McIlroy is to ensure he peaks at the right time. Given his history with Augusta National, the Masters is undoubtedly the only major championship he wants to win between now and when he eventually calls time on his career.
