It’s been an eventful week for Scottie Scheffler as the world number one looks to add the St Jude Championship to his glittering 2024 record.
Scheffler currently sits seven shots back of leader Hideki Matsuyama. The Japanese star looks well-placed to seal victory in Memphis and massively boost his FedEx Cup aspirations.
Scheffler produced an angry moment during the first round, and the American hasn’t been his usual calm and relaxed self.
The American’s frustrated demeanour showed no sign of letting up on Saturday, and golf fans are all somewhat in agreement about Scheffler’s performance.

During the Olympics, Scheffler claimed his putting was massively improved; however, after missing another short effort on Saturday, the American once again let his frustration boil over.
Scheffler slammed his putter against his leg after missing on the low side, and it’s caused quite a reaction online.
“That’s a man with a new kid at home keeping him up half the night. I’d know that kind of exhausted frustration anywhere,” a fan wrote on X. Meanwhile, another added, “Scheffler’s frustration is clear. When a player of his calibre starts missing, you know it’s just not his day.”
This fan didn’t hold back in their assessment of Scheffler’s putting. “One of the worst putters to overall golf player ratios in a while,” they wrote. Another shared the same sentiment: “Sheffler can’t putt. It’s that simple, or he would have ten wins this season.”
There were even some who suggested Scheffler’s frustrated demeanour could stem from issues he has with the PGA Tour. “Isn’t happy playing on the PGA Tour”, said one fan. “He must hate it on the PGAT. Obviously wants to go to LIV with this behaviour. Looks like he hates it, doesn’t it,” said another.
Finally, this X user shared their view on Scheffler’s actions this week.
“Scottie has been ANGRY this week,” they wrote.

Scheffler angered fans after voicing his concerns about the FedEx Cup playoff format, and the world number one isn’t enjoying himself in the first end-of-season event.
It seems that the American is angry that he could be chased down over the next couple of weeks despite being by far and away the most dominant player on tour.
Unfortunately for Scheffler, the playoff system is designed to reward those who perform at the right moments, and it’s up to the world number one to finally perform at East Lake.
As the game’s elite player, he surely must be capable of stepping up and finally landing golf’s most lucrative prize.
