Scottie Scheffler will be one of the favourites heading into the Olympics golf in a few days and he’s made a telling admission about his putting.

Scheffler has been the star of the golfing world in 2024, winning multiple events and claiming a second green jacket at The Masters in the process.

Of course, 2024 has been a big year for golf in general, with Bryson DeChambeau making waves and Xander Schauffele winning two majors.

However, a lot of eyes have focussed on Scheffler. The world number one has been in amazing form, helped by a putting change suggested by Rory McIlroy.

And speaking about his putting, Scheffler has admitted that he’s noticed a big change…with more to come.

Scottie Scheffler says he’s got so much better at putting but there’s more to come

Speaking in his press conference ahead of competing in the Paris Olympics in a few days’ time, Scheffler admitted there was even more room for improvement in his putting.

“I think if you took a look at my statistics, statistically I think my putting has gotten better than last year and I think I still have a lot of room to improve,” Scheffler said.

“Based on pure statistics, I went from losing shots on the green to I think I’m positive now. Seeing those little results like that can be really great for your covered knowing you’re working on the right things and working in the right direction.

“I mean, sometimes the game is really just as simple as that, holing a couple more putts. Definitely this year I’ve holed some putts in key moments. I’ve looked back at rounds like I had at THE PLAYERS, holing key putts; like the Masters; making the putt to win at the Memorial.

“The margins out here are so small that sometimes you’re a good break away from winning a tournament and a bad break away from losing one.

“This year so far I’ve been on the right side of things, and last year I would say I was on the wrong side of things for a while. Kind of just the ebbs and flows of playing in game for a living. It’s never that easy to win, and you know, sometimes you’re good at it and sometimes you’re not.”

Scheffler getting better not what the rest want to hear

There is a huge respect in the game for Scottie Scheffler and what he’s done.

But in truth, the last thing you want to hear if you are a Rory McIlroy or Xander Schauffele is the world number one suggesting there’s even more to come in his game.

Scheffler’s turnaround on the putting greens has been quite something and as many say about him, if he putts well, he’s basically winning.

There are a plethora of talented players at this summer’s Olympics. But in reality, if Scheffler turns up and produces, then there’s a high chance he leaves with the gold medal.
