The DP World Tour is continuing at pace over in Spain this week with English golfer Marco Penge leading the way by four shots heading into round four.

Penge is looking to make it three wins in 2025 as he looks to put the seal on a tremendous 2025 that has seen him emerge as one of the game’s brightest stars.

The 27-year-old is well known for his big hitting but around the course in Madrid in round three, Penge had to pull out all the shots, especially after his pitching wedge snapped mid-round.

Of course, while his short-game was in fine nick throughout the third day, that driving he displays so often really caught the eye.

In particular, one booming effort on the par four tenth saw Penge fire it some 376 yards, over trees, and plumb into the middle of the fairway before the green.

With the commentators at the time saying they’d never seen anything like it, golf fans on social media have also been left in awe of Penge’s hit.

Golf fans stunned by Marco Penge’s 376-yard drive at the Spanish Open

Everyone who watches golf loves it when a player comes along and shows something special in their game.

Marco Penge is doing that right now with his length off the tee and after his crushing effort on the 10th went just shy of 380 yards, it caused quite the stir over on X.

The popular golf account Flushing It was quick to praise Penge as they shared the clip of the drive.

Joining in the chat, one fan claimed Penge is just ‘unreal‘ while another simply remarked ‘wow‘ in response to the drive.

Going into a bit more detail, talk of Penge’s future was rife as some suggested he was onto something big.

He’s going to be a star” one fan remarked, while another suggested LIV Golf need to chuck their money at him, adding, “LIV needs to give him all the money”

Of course, with a Ryder Cup in two years in Ireland, Penge is catching the eye there too as some fans pointed out.

“Team Europe has another stud in the pipeline” one fan remarked, while another also suggested Penge is in line for Ryder Cup success.

“Ryder cup in Ireland here we come!”

With a four shot lead, Penge will be confident of getting this one over the line and if he does, three wins in one season is quite the achievement.

With a PGA Tour card also secured, Penge will be one to keep a firm eye on for the future.

What Marco Penge has said about winning the Spanish Open

The Englishman is clearly loving life at the moment and his golf game is reflecting that confidence he has in his game.

Going into the final round, Penge will see Patrick Reed as a big threat, albeit he is five shots back.

However, Penge himself is not getting carried away and as ever, he appeared calm in his interview after the third day.

“I was just trying to go as low as I could,” Penge said afterwards. “I’ve learnt in the past that when you’re leading, you can’t just… not play steady, that’s not the right word, but you’ve got to be going forward because everyone else will catch you up.

“It was nice to prove to myself that I can do it.”

With Luke Donald obviously still keeping an eye on things in case he’s European captain again, Penge will be keen to ensure his form maintains both now and through 2026 and 27.
