Brandel Chamblee is often loath to praise LIV Golf or Bryson DeChambeau but he’s shown a slight chink in the armour for once this week.
Chamblee and DeChambeau have had some back and forth in 2025, with the golf analyst very much set in his stance that LIV Golf and those who joined them are bad news.
Naturally, that’s led to a mini beef of sorts forming and as usual, social media is awash with those who side with Chamblee and those who side with the two-time US Open winner.
However, DeChambeau has at least played well in the majority of the majors since LIV Golf formed.
But according to Chamblee, that is still nothing to do with LIV and instead, a change Bryson himself made.

Brandel Chamblee refuses to acknowledge LIV Golf for Bryson DeChambeau’s improvement
LIV Golf’s 54 hole format with shotgun starts has brought criticism from many and Chamblee has been among those.
Bryson DeChambeau, meanwhile, has used his move to LIV to build his own social profile and as well as improving on the course, he’s also improved perception of himself off the golf course as well.
However, speaking on the Trey Wingo podcast, Brandel Chamblee suggested LIV has nothing to do with DeChambeau’s improved form.
“But I mean it’s not like he suddenly got better when he went to LIV. He got better when he changed caddy,” Chamblee said.
“Look, I think Bryson is a compelling watch. But the idea that he is ‘must watch TV’ is poor. I mean nobody rushes to watch the TV when he’s leading a LIV event. The ratings…nobody cares to watch him then, they just don’t.
“But when he’s going head to head with Rory, or Scottie Scheffler, they tune in. Are they tuning in for Bryson or Rory? Are they tuning into Bryson or Scottie? They watch to the tune of three, four, five million people when Rory and Scottie are playing in The Masters. It’s 50 to 100, 500,000 when Bryson, Rahm, DJ and Brooks are going head to head. If it was a fight, they’d stop it.”
Who is Bryson DeChambeau’s caddy?
A good caddy can be almost as important as the player himself on some occasions and it’s little wonder we’ve seen DeChambeau improve with someone new on the bag.
Right now, DeChambeau has formed a partnership with Gregory Bodine. The duo have worked together since 2023, after the American split with Tim Tucker in 2021 and then a brief run with Ben Shomin as well.
As for Bodine, he is more than experienced enough to help DeChambeau.
He’s worked in and around the PGA Tour for over two decades now and spent a long stint on the bag of PGA Tour star Tony Finau.
Bodine is keen on working with DeChambeau, and previously explained his love for the partnership.
“I have a blast with him. At the core, he is a very, very, very good person. One thing that makes me a good caddie is being good company, honestly,” Bodine has said.
“When you’re around someone 12 hours a day, you’d better keep things light, keep things funny. To not be annoying … I think that’s a job well done.”
