US Ryder Cup star Bryson DeChambeau was the target of fierce criticism from Brandel Chamblee earlier this week.

DeChambeau has often been singled out by Chamblee due to his allegiance to the golf analyst’s long-standing nemesis – LIV Golf.

Somewhat surprisingly, given the fact that it’s Ryder Cup week, Chamblee went to town with his criticism of DeChambeau on Monday.

In response to DeChambeau’s comments about Rory McIlroy, the American golf pundit said: “He didn’t talk about playing on a team and how much that meant.

“What he did do was talk about his YouTube channel, which, if we want to talk about the numbers that are generated from that, it’s pretty dubious.

“I have no doubt that bots are generating a lot of those views. There may be some interest as well, but that’s what he wants to talk about. Not the team, not the Ryder Cup.

“It’s one of the reasons why I think he’s going to be such a difficult person to get paired with. No doubt he’s one hell of a golfer, no doubt he has his moments and generosity with fans, I’ve heard about it.

“But he’s an odd duck when he’s trying to blend in with the team. And he has so many potential bulletin board mistakes, and I think he would be a captain’s nightmare.”

It’s not the first time the LIV golfer has been the target of the former PGA Tour player’s wrath either.

Chamblee even questioned whether the US Ryder Cup players wanted DeChambeau on the team last month.

And now DeChambeau has finally fired back at Chamblee.

DeChambeau is certainly no shrinking violet.

So the only surprise is that he hasn’t fired back at Chamblee sooner!

The two-time US Open champion was in fine spirits during his practice round at Bethpage Black on Tuesday.

And just like he usually does, he interacted with his fans after his round, signing autographs for pretty much anyone who asked him to do so.

And DeChambeau did not pass up the opportunity to fire back at Chamblee, after being labelled a ‘captain’s nightmare’ by the notoriously critical analyst.

The Ryder Cup star said: Did Brandel say something yesterday, in what was a clear and obvious swipe at his fellow American.

Bryson DeChambeau is misunderstood and Brandel Chamblee has got him wrong

DeChambeau has proven over the past few years that he is very much a team player.

The 32-year-old has taken on the leadership role on LIV within his Crushers team and he has thrived in doing so.

Ask Paul Casey, Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri whether DeChambeau is a good teammate. I think we all know what their answers would be.

Keegan Bradley should use DeChambeau as one of his key players during the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black.

The LIV golfer is the longest driver of the ball in the game and is far more accurate than people give him credit for. He averaged around 63% of fairways hit this season just gone.

It just seems like Chamblee has an agenda against his fellow American for some reason.

However, as Paul McGinley said on Tuesday, underestimate DeChambeau at your peril.
