The PGA Tour-LIV Golf saga has taken a fresh twist, and fans around the world have been left in disbelief.
The 14-month soap opera has been challenging to track as talks continue between the Public Investment Fund and PGA Tour officials.
It’s believed the PGA hierarchy is optimistic about an agreement as an attempt is made to end the current divide, which was caused after the emergence of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.
However, a new twist has emerged.
PGA Tour players want Jon Rahm and Co. to surrender their LIV fortune and return to golf’s traditional circuit.
Golf fans rage at what PGA Tour players have demanded of Jon Rahm

Golf fans around the world have since reacted to what PGA Tour players have demanded, and the consensus is far from positive.
Matt Vincenzi wrote: “A deal between the PGAT and PIF is being held up because PGAT players want LIV players to give the money back. Outlandish. Nonsensical. Childish.
“This shouldn’t be about revenge. Players from BOTH Tours got massive financial incentives to play with their respective Tours.”
Another fan added, “They are jealous. Unbelievable!” While another said, “Agree. Does the PGA Tour really want a deal? It seems they do not.”
“Insane,” wrote this fan. “The LIV guys taking social media bullets got all these cowards who stayed behind a pay raise.”
A fellow fan said about the prospect of LIV paying money back, “It’s never going to happen, lol!”
Finally, this fan couldn’t believe the demands were genuine. “There is no way that this can be true because all of the players who stay at the PGA Tour stood on their high ground about how it’s not about the money,” they wrote. “Money has nothing to do with it. That is what they said. So it shouldn’t be a topic of conversation if everybody merges back together.”
PGA Tour-LIV Golf hold-up revealed after Jon Rahm demand
A fresh twist on Wednesday [18 September] has suggested that the hold-up in talks doesn’t actually centre around LIV players surrendering their fortunes.
Re-integrating LIV players and the future of the breakaway league are believed to be the main issues preventing a deal from being struck.
Despite the roadblocks, at least movement is somewhat afoot. There’s far more transparency now than at any previous stage in negotiations.
Finally, the golfing world knows why a resolution remains on the table. Hopefully, it’s only a matter of time before the white smoke emerges.
