Golf fans are all in agreement after Phil Mickelson produced a strongly worded social media post directed at the PGA Tour.
The post on X, which has now been deleted, was aimed at the current restrictions limiting the number of LIV Golf stars present at the upcoming PGA Championship at Valhalla.
Bryson DeChambeau, Tyrrell Hatton, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Brooks Koepka, Joaquin Niemann, Jon Rahm, and Cameron Smith are all set to feature, along with Mickelson, in Louisville this month.
The lefty is eligible to play after winning the 2021 PGA Championship.

Fresh talk of LIV involvement has now emerged after the latest tournament in Singapore. Presently, LIV events don’t count towards qualification to the PGA.
The Volvo China Open, which was played for a minimal $2.25million purse, saw several players qualify for the year’s second major.
In response to a post by X account, ‘Flushing It’, Mickelson was scathing in his view of the current qualification system.
He said: “Maybe some LIV players won’t be missed. But what if NONE of the LIV players played? Would they be missed? What about next year when more great players join? Or the following year? At some point they will care and will have to answer to sponsors and television. FAAFO.”

Unsurprisingly, Mickelson’s post was quickly deleted; perhaps someone from LIV’s PR team gently asked the six-time major champion to politely remove his comments.
However, the post didn’t go unnoticed, and the vast majority of golf fans are in agreement over Mickelson’s outburst, with many criticising the 53-year-old.
Jhatchlife said: “As a fan, pro golf is exhausting these days.”
Russ Kontos added: “No, I will not miss them. LIV guys sold your souls for the cash. I don’t miss them at all.”
John Ziegler was especially scathing of Mickelson. “Phil is, as he often is, delusional,” he wrote. And Joey Boatwater was quick to agree on the lefty’s latest tweet, wishing him “good riddance”.
There was also a suggestion that the former PGA Tour star was ruining the sport. Spaceman0313 said: “Quite the legacy Phil is leaving. Destroying his own sport.”
Finally, Jason Moriarty claimed the LIV Golf star is “gaslighting” the situation. He wrote: “Typical Phil, pure gaslighting. Borderline narcissistic. There is nothing he is doing that is growing the game.”
Two more LIV Golfers have been invited to the PGA Championship
2023 LIV Golf Singapore champion Talor Gooch has been added to the field for the PGA Championship after receiving an invite on Monday, May 6.
This feels like an important step. The American has hardly torn up many trees when participating in OWGR-ranked events; therefore, his invitation is purely down to his performances on the LIV tour, where he was named individual champion in 2023 and has won three times.
Spaniard David Puig, who also plays in the breakaway league, has been invited to Valhalla.
These invites feel significant for the PGA and LIV; the divide currently engulfing the game is causing more harm than good. Talks between the tours are believed to be ongoing, hopefully, Gooch and Puig’s inclusion means the end is in sight.
