Fred Couples has a superb history at The Masters, but his story at Augusta National is not finished just yet.
Couples won The Masters in 1992, when he defeated Raymond Floyd by two shots for his only career major championship win.
That same year, Couples shot a course-record at TPC Sawgrass, but couldn’t get the job done at the Players Championship.
His focus has now switched back to Augusta, where he enters the second round sitting T11 in the leaderboard.
Couples carded a one-under 71 in his opening round of The Masters, level with the likes of recent PGA Tour winners Viktor Hovland and Min Woo Lee.

Fred Couples makes history at The Masters with one-under first round
High-profile stars Shane Lowry, Cameron Smith, Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson also finished Thursday on one-under.
But Couples’s feat undoubtedly stands out more than most, with the 65-year-old’s first round 71 coming 42 years after he broke par at Augusta for the first time in 1983.
As per Justin Ray on X, that span represents the longest time between rounds under par in Masters history.
The records of both Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson stand at 40 years, from 1960-2000 and 1975-2015 respectively.
