A former LIV Golf player has confirmed he’s been banned from PGA Tour events despite never being a member.
The standoff between the PIF and the PGA Tour has reached a critical moment, with the Transaction Committee set to hold talks with the Saudis in New York on Friday [June 7].
Currently, LIV Golf stars aren’t permitted to feature in PGA Tour events, with the major championships the only time when the world’s best players reunite.
The PGA Tour has taken a strong stance on breakaway tour players. Richard Bland, who won the Senior PGA Championship, found out on social media that he wouldn’t be given any starts on the Champions Tour – an affiliated event – due to his presence on LIV.
And now, a player who is no longer with LIV has also seen his stateside opportunities quashed.
Bernd Wiesberger makes remarkable PGA Tour claim

In November 2023, Bernd Wiesberger became one of the first golfers who played for LIV Golf to be reinstated on the DP World Tour.
The eight-time DP World Tour winner joined Greg Norman’s venture in 2022 but lost his 2024 status after a poor season.
After applying for his DP World Tour membership, he was reinstated. However, the PGA Tour appears to have laid down the law for the former LIV Golf man.
Taking to X on Friday morning, Wiesberger confirmed that he had received a letter from the PGA banning him from two upcoming events.
He wrote: “Same here. Just received a letter by the pgat banning me from playing the isco and barracuda. Never been a member either. Who knows what’s going on over there…”
PGA Tour have made a mistake here
With the Austrian no longer with LIV Golf and now back on the DP World Tour, the PGA Tour could have opened a can of worms with this decision.
If other LIV Golf players decide to return, what happens then? Will they be banned after previously competing in the breakaway venture?
Furthermore, the decision to ban Bland from the Champions Tour also feels power-hungry. The senior competition is an affiliated event and should be free to make decisions over who is able to participate.
As previously mentioned, talks between the PIF and the PGA Tour are set to take place – and the golfing world will be desperate for some resolution; the current standstill cannot continue.
