Another weekend has finished and another iconic golf tournament has been and gone, with the Charles Schwab Challenge now complete.

It is an exciting event in the calendar for countless pros, with a revamped Colonial Country Club playing host as usual, with Keegan Bradley raving about the job that has been done there.

And while it may not have seemed it at various stages, Davis Riley ultimately cruised to victory.

The 27-year-old shot 66-64-66-70 to end on 14-under-par and clinch his first individual tournament win on the PGA Tour.

Riley’s nearest competitors Bradley and Scottie Scheffler could only manage nine-under, with Collin Morikawa following on eight-under, with the latter since admitting that he is very happy that his game is trending in the right direction.

Davis Riley reveals caddie discussion before Charles Schwab Challenge win

A birdie on the 17th put Riley five ahead, with a closing par from the greenside bunker securing him the trophy.

As per the official PGA Tour website, the champion has since revealed a discussion with his caddie before the win.

“I want to get lost in the process of it,” Riley told his caddie. “I want to just be so focused on what I’m doing, the process I’m going through, picking targets, being really detail-oriented.

“I just wanted to get lost in that and then show up on 16 and 17 and be right where I wanted to be.”

Riley’s plan of action, as discussed with his caddie, clearly worked – as he never showed any signs of nerves as he closed out.

Despite having a healthy lead, Riley looked very assured as he sealed his maiden individual win on the PGA Tour.

How is 2024 going for Davis Riley so far?

Riley clinched his first individual win at Colonial, but he does have another PGA Tour title under his belt.

The 27-year-old tasted success at the 2023 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, playing alongside fellow American Nick Hardy.

Riley now sits 55th in the FedExCup rankings, having registered one top 10 and two top 25 finish from his 15 events this season.

He will now be eager to kick on from the Charles Schwab Challenge success, having made just eight of 15 cuts so far this season.
