Scottie Scheffler is just one win away from completing the career grand slam after his victory at The Open Championship.
The Open champion Scheffler isn’t motivated by the career grand slam, which he would achieve by securing the US Open trophy.
He clinched his first major title at The Masters in 2022, and quickly doubled his success at Augusta in 2024.
The PGA Championship trophy then went his way at Quail Hollow earlier this year, with Scheffler adding the Claret Jug by winning The Open on Sunday.
Northern Ireland’s Royal Portrush played host to the final major of 2025, where the world number one won by four shots.

Dame Laura Davies predicts when Scottie Scheffler can complete the career grand slam
Sir Nick Faldo thinks Scheffler wins the US Open next year, thus completing the set, with his fellow legend Dame Laura Davies having also shared her take on the matter.
She said on Sky Sports Golf on Sunday: “If what we are seeing unfolding in front of our eyes is anything to go by he will take it in his stride and get it done earlier rather than later.
“Poor old Rory took such a long time and he was being tortured by it. I don’t think Scottie would want that.
“We have seen the effect it had on Rory. Things will change at some point and he won’t be that player but I can’t see the end of it for a very long time to come. I see more success for Scottie next year.
“I think going to Birkdale that course really suits him, not that many don’t. But Birkdale of all the courses suits his precision golf. I don’t see an end to it for a long, long time.”
What is the 2026 major championship schedule?
It really does look like Scheffler will get over the line sooner rather than later, with the American in near-unstoppable form at this moment in time.
McIlroy needed to wait for more than a decade to complete the grand slam, but his rival surely doesn’t need such a wait.
Scheffler would join an exclusive club if he was indeed able to win all four majors, with McIlroy having recently joined Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods on the list.
As Davies mentioned, The Open moves back to England next year, with Royal Birkdale playing host to the event in June.
| Tournament | Venue |
| The Masters | Augusta National, Georgia |
| PGA Championship | Aronimink Golf Club, Pennsylvania |
| US Open | Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, New York |
| The Open Championship | Royal Birkdale, England |
But up first is The Masters at Augusta National, where McIlroy will very likely be out to defend his green jacket.
Aronimink Golf Club then hosts the PGA Championship, while Shinnecock Hills is the venue for the 2026 US Open.
