It’s been another steady season for Collin Morikawa, with the world number six currently fourth in the FedEx Cup standings.
Despite waiting for his first victory, the two-time major champion has been one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour and nearly pipped Scottie Scheffler to the Memorial Tournament title the week before the US Open.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old has played a lot of golf since the turn of the year, and Morikawa has admitted he added two events to ensure he made the USA Olympic team.
It’s been three years since American’s last major win, and despite this, Morikawa has claimed big improvements have been made within his game.
Collin Morikawa loves being grouped with Max Homa and Viktor Hovland

In a recent video posted by Golf.com, Morikawa discussed his career to date, with various questions directed at the two-time major winner.
When quizzed about who he loves being grouped with at PGA Tour events, Morikawa was quick to name Max Homa and European star Viktor Hovland.
“Max [Homa] is one of my favourites,” said Morikawa. “I think he’s awesome. I’ve got to know him really well. We’ve got a lot closer. Viktor [Hovland] is always a big favourite of mine [as well].”
Collin Morikawa backed to win Olympic gold at Le Golf National
Morikawa will be looking to end his winless run at Le Golf National this week. His American teammates Xander Schauffele and Scheffler are arguably his main competition.
Schauffele is in action for the first time since his 2024 Open Championship win at Royal Troon, and Scheffler is looking to make an Olympic podium for the first time.
Smylie Kaufman, speaking on the latest edition of the Smylie Show, has backed Morikawa to win gold this week and produce his most memorable moment of 2024 thus far.
“I just feel so good about Collin winning this week,” said Kaufman. “He hasn’t had that big win yet this year, and he’s been just trending, trending, trending. And you can make a case for anybody in the top five or six in the odds on why they’re going to win, but I just can’t get off of Collin on this golf course.”
