World number six Collin Morikawa has shared two things he decided to do to ensure he made the USA team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Wyndham Clark will represent the US at Le Golf National at the beginning of August.
The Olympic event caps what is a busy stretch of golf, including the Scottish Open and Open Championship, before the PGA Tour playoffs get underway at the St. Jude Championship.
After much debate, the selection process opted to use world ranking as a guide. A decision that ultimately saw 2024 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau miss out.
Collin Morikawa adds two events to make the 2024 Olympic team

Speaking during the latest edition of the Smylie Show, Morikawa revealed that he decided to add two more events to his schedule in order to make the Olympic team.
“I am very, very happy. It’s an honour,” he explained.
“I added two events this year just to see if I can give myself a chance to make the Olympics. You go back all the way to Bay Hill and look at my world golf ranking; I was just nowhere to be seen.”
Morikawa added: “But now, with the nice stretch, I wanted to make a push for it, and I am super happy to be part of that team.”
Why Bryson DeChambeau missed out on the USA Olympic team
Currently, based on the Olympic qualification process, the top 15 golfers in the OWGR are eligible for the games, with a maximum of four players from each country.
Those who find themselves outside the top 15 are eligible through the Olympic Golf Rankings, with a maximum of two per country.
The USA opted to select their four highest-ranking players at present.
DeChambeau was eligible for the USA team after his US Open win, and many fans were disappointed with the decision to overlook the big-hitting American.
