So Cameron Young has made it very clear to Keegan Bradley why he should be on the Ryder Cup team in September then.
Young wasn’t even being talked about as a potential Ryder Cup team member this time last week.
However, the 28-year-old’s dominant win at the Wyndham Championship has catapulted him into contention to make the team for Bethpage Black next month.
Interestingly, Young said his goal was to make the Ryder Cup team, before the Wyndham Championship even began.
Now, after his win at Sedgefield Country Club, he’s in a strong position to achieve that goal.
Young became the 1,000th winner on the PGA Tour on Sunday, and now a Ryder Cup spot could well await the New Yorker.
He jumped up to 15th spot in the US Ryder Cup standings after his Wyndham Championship victory.
Cameron Young tells Keegan Bradley why he must pick him for the Ryder Cup
While it seems unlikely that Young will qualify for the Ryder Cup team automatically, he is definitely in with a shout of earning a captain’s pick.

The Americans have ignored in-form players far too often in the past, and Bradley will surely be determined to change that.
Young was a guest on Dan Rapaport’s Dan on Golf YouTube show on Monday, and discussion quickly turned to the upcoming Ryder Cup.
Rapaport said to Young to imagine that he was speaking to Bradley, and asked him to sell himself for a Ryder Cup spot:
Young said: “I think that this week proves what I’m capable of. I’ve played a lot of really good golf over the course over a bunch of years in big spots in majors, I know I’ve got maybe fourth or fifth most top-10s in majors since I started playing on tour. I obviously love that golf course, it’s home for me up there.
“So if you’re asking me, I think my golf helps, I think it probably would have helped the last time too. But I know I’ve got some work left to do to prove that to him, and this is week one of four that I have the opportunity to do that, so I’ve got three more.“
Cameron Young’s 2025 stats and what they mean for the Ryder Cup
Young’s win at the Wyndham has completely turned his season around, and indeed his career.
Here are his stats for the season so far, and what they could mean for the upcoming showdown with Europe at Bethpage.
| Stats | Young’s 2025 rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 54th |
| Strokes gained approach | 149th |
| Strokes gained around the green | 104th |
| Strokes gained putting | 6th |
| Strokes gained total | 47th |
While his approach play and short game haven’t been anywhere near good enough this season, he is one of the best drivers of the ball in the game and is an exceptional putter.
His prodigious length off the tee will be crucial at Bethpage Black and we all know how important putting is in match-play situations.
Young has given himself a great chance of making the Ryder Cup team in September now, and Bradley would surely have been very impressed with what he saw last week.
