Cameron Young and Bryson DeChambeau have been in the same ‘pod’ all week during Ryder Cup practice at Bethpage Black.

DeChambeau is the only LIV golfer on the US Ryder Cup team, but he has slotted into the side nicely alongside the likes of Young and co.

The two-time US Open champion has been mooted as a potential partner for the one-time PGA Tour winner at Bethpage Black.

DeChambeau and Young could be ideal Ryder Cup partners because the golf balls they use are very similar.

They are both incredibly long hitters as well, and are also very solid putters indeed.

The LIV star has actually received criticism from some sections of the media this week, namely from Brandel Chamblee.

DeChambeau was branded as a ‘captain’s nightmare’ by Chamblee, but it must be said that was unfair in the extreme.

Many American Ryder Cup players have spoken very highly indeed of DeChambeau ahead of the showdown with the Europeans at Bethpage.

And now Young has had his say on his teammate.

Young won his first ever PGA Tour event in 2025, and that victory got him into the conversation for the captain’s picks.

As we know, the 28-year-old New Yorker got the call from Keegan Bradley, and now he is expected to play a key role for the US at Bethpage.

But could Bradley go bold and pair up Young with DeChambeau? It certainly seems possible.

One reporter asked Young to share what it has been like to practice alongside DeChambeau all week long at Bethpage.

He said: It’s been great, honestly. I’ve spent very little time with him up until this week. I had spoken to him here and there for a minute.

You know, he’s a smart guy. He’s interesting to talk to. Obviously loves golf and has thought about golf maybe more than anybody out here throughout his career. I’m always picking his brain, asking him what he thinks about certain things, and it’s been fun for me to kind of watch him work.

He’s obviously one of the best players in the world and has great success playing in big events. It’s fun for me to see what he does and try to learn something from him.

Keegan Bradley could make surprise Bryson DeChambeau Ryder Cup decision

There is a lot of talk right now about whether or not DeChambeau should play in the foursomes.

Paul McGinley suggested that he actually wouldn’t be surprised at all if he did.

First of all on the point of being the black sheep, fans usually like the black sheep. Someone who is different and unique, so I have no doubt the fans will rally around him here.

Will he play first morning? You would have to look at his game and say that he is probably not suited to foursomes.

He is a difficult personality to pair with, that is for sure. And he also has a difficult game to pair with because his iron play has been really poor at the majors this year.

We know his driving is spectacular and his short game, but his iron play has been really poor. And generally it’s iron play you look for more than anything when you pair.

Having said that he is a big name and is going to draw a crowd. His comments were about playing to his own audience on YouTube. A lot of those YouTube fans will be here this week.

I would not be surprised. He is not a perfect fit for foursomes but I would not be surprised. Because one of the keys we are expecting from Keegan is to play to the crowd and get that home crowd advantage as soon as possible.

Obviously him in the team the first morning would do that for him.

He is now used to playing on a team. For two years he has been on LIV playing as part of a team. He is coming here with more experience of being part of a team than other guys. That puts him in a different spot, let’s not underestimate this guy.

Bradley could well be missing a trick if he doesn’t use DeChambeau in every session at the Ryder Cup.

He is one of the best players in the world and who knows, he could form a fearsome partnership with Young, just like Bradley did with Phil Mickelson 13 years ago at Medinah.
