Joaquin Niemann produced a fine display in his final round of the PGA Championship, but it wasn’t enough to come out on top.
Niemann was under pressure to perform at the PGA Championship, which he entered while leading the LIV Golf individual standings.
The Chilean stands in first place ahead of Bryson DeChambeau in second and Jon Rahm in third, with all three having switched their focus to the PGA Championship this week.
But Niemann endured a difficult start to his PGA Championship, carding a three-over 74 in the wet conditions at Quail Hollow.
He did, however, recover with a round two 67 to make the cut, with his fellow LIV Golf players Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka among those missing out.

Byeong Hun An makes Joaquin Niemann claim as PGA Championship concludes
Also making the cut was PGA Tour player Byeong Hun An, who took to social media after his final round to discuss the talent of Niemann.
When it was noted on X that the Chilean was T7 headed to the final three holes of Quail Hollow, An commented: “No doubt he would have won couple PGA Tour events if he stayed on tour. What a player.”
An, who finished 74th on 13-over, added: “One of only few guys out there I would stop and watch them hit balls on the range.”
Joaquin Niemann secures best major finish at PGA Championship
Niemann has certainly found himself in the spotlight at times this season, primarily due to his efforts on LIV Golf.
He left the PGA Tour for its rival back in August 2022, and already has three wins to his name this season.

Success has arrived in Adelaide, Singapore and Mexico City, with the triumphs coming after he managed two wins on the PGA Tour.
Mickelson thinks Niemann is the best golfer in the world, but he hasn’t exactly lived up to that title in major championships.
| Year | Wins | Tournament |
| 2022 | 1 | The Genesis Invitational |
| 2019 | 1 | A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier |
He has, however, now managed to secure his best finish on the biggest stage, securing T8 spot at Quail Hollow, having previously never finished in the top 15.
But neither he nor his fellow LIV Golf players could outclass Scottie Scheffler, who stormed to a third major championship win after finishing on 11-under.
