Bryson DeChambeau put the pedal to the metal on day one of LIV Mexico on Friday.
DeChambeau is absolutely box-office, and he is quite clearly one of the most marketable players in the game.
The 31-year-old American’s prodigious length off the tee enables him to overpower many golf courses, and he certainly did that on Friday on day one at LIV Mexico.
The LIV Golf star was in contention to win The Masters two weeks ago, and his move to the Saudi-backed tour has clearly not adversely affected his game.
Before the tournament began at Club de Golf Chapultepec, DeChambeau was filmed on the driving range at LIV Mexico carrying his driver 407 yards through the air, with a ball speed of 199 mph.

Sure, the event is being played at a golf course that is 7,800 feet above sea level but still, those are some seriously impressive numbers.
The two-time major champion opened up with an eight-under par round of 63, and leads by one shot from Cameron Smith and Jon Rahm after day one.
And after his round, DeChambeau highlighted how the golf course is both very ‘gettable’ but extremely difficult in equal measure.
Bryson DeChambeau says what was ‘diabolical’ about LIV Mexico on day one
The reigning US Open champion stormed out of the blocks on Friday, and was four-under par after just three holes, after an eagle on his first hole.
Whilst that pace slowed down slightly, DeChambeau still saved the best until last, with a breathtaking drive on his final hole of the day.
The 31-year-old clocked a 197 mph ball speed and found the green with his drive on the 391 yard 1st hole:
He spoke to reporters after his opening day’s work and explained why Club de Golf Chapultepec is not as easy as it may appear:
“Yeah, it was a lot of fun today hitting the driver. I was hitting it well and was pleased with how I was hitting it. Drove it well.
“Yeah, look, the golf course is gettable, but it’s diabolical, as well. There was a lot of moments where I felt like I was going to get it to 9, 10-under and there was moments where I’m like, man, I could be 3-under or 2-under easily if I don’t get my act in shape, so it’s a teeter-totter golf course. You can hit a drive down by the green, but it depends on the lie, depends on the flag, depends on if you can make some six, seven-footers out here.
“It was a grindy round, a lot of fun. Felt like I gave a good performance out there today.”
Why Jake Knapp’s girlfriend took a cheeky dig at DeChambeau
Knapp is well known as one of the longest hitters in professional golf.
However, DeChambeau is in a league of his own.
After posting videos of just how far he was hitting his driver on the range in Mexico, Knapp’s girlfriend fired back at DeChambeau with some cheeky posts on X.
In fairness to Makena White, that’s fairly strong banter, and DeChambeau will undoubtedly appreciate that kind of post on social media!
