Bryson DeChambeau continued his fine form of late to go into early contention at the US Open during day one.
On a tricky track at Pinehurst, the LIV Golf star was near his very best as he hammered his driver down fairway after fairway before finding form around the greens as well.
DeChambeau ended up in the clubhouse at three-under par, just two shy of the joint leaders, Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy.
With conditions set to become even harder as the days go by and greens firming up, DeChambeau will be delighted to see himself in the mix so early on.
The American gets his second round underway in the early morning (US time) and he’s admitted that prior to tee off yesterday, he found something on the driving range that’s worked out for him.

Speaking straight after his round and catching up with Smylie Kauffman, DeChambeau explained how he’d made just a slight tweak to his swing and was now seeing huge results.
“I hit it good besides getting a little squirrely on five. Every hole I was striping it. I have been working on some stuff on the driving range and it was amazing,” DeChambeau said.
“In all seriousness I have been struggling a bit on the driver. Irons just not flighting them the way I want to, they are not starting on my line.
“I have made a tweak with my left arm which has allowed my face angle to go through impact a lot better and consequently I was really confident going into today.”

Anyone who watches golf and knows a thing or two about Bryson DeChambeau will know he is a stickler for small details in the game.
Here, it looks like one of those small details and tweaks has paid dividends.
Yesterday, it looked like we were seeing a version of Bryson that very much is good enough to win the major tournaments.
His move to LIV has caused quite the stir in golf. But one thing is becoming clearer every time we see him and that’s that the PGA Tour is missing the popular American.
If he wins the US Open, you’ll find few fans of the game complaining, that’s for sure.
