Bryson DeChambeau is out to defend his US Open title this week, with the action now underway at Oakmont.

DeChambeau thinks an 18 handicapper shoots 100 on the front nine at Oakmont, which last hosted the US Open in 2016.

His fellow LIV Golf player won the major championship back then, shooting a four-under 276 in Pennsylvania.

Both DeChambeau and Johnson are among the field this year, with the former having won the tournament in 2024.

He edged out Rory McIlroy at Pinehurst last year, securing his second US Open win and second major championship title.

Focus has now turned to Oakmont Country Club, but before the latest major, DeChambeau was among a number of players to whom fans were allowed to ask questions.

The two-time major champion was asked for the toughest golf course he’s ever played, to which he replied: “Man, it’s got to be 2016 Oakmont, for sure. That was a great question buddy!”

His fellow two-time major winner Johnson meanwhile was asked who helped him get into golf, with the former world number one replying: “My dad got me started with golf when I was five or six years old.”

DeChambeau may just change his answer to Oakmont 2025 after this week, with the conditions set to provide a real challenge for all involved.

He finished T15 in Pennsylvania as Johnson lifted the trophy, ending his four rounds at Oakmont on five-over.

The pair weren’t the only players involved in the intriguing Q&A from fans, with Justin Thomas and Jason Day also featuring.

Asked how he improves his swing and if it’s hard, Thomas responded: “I spend a lot of time on the range trying to improve my swing. It’s very, very hard.”

Day was asked to pick the best hole in golf he’s ever played, and he said: “I actually thoroughly enjoy the Postage Stamp at Troon. I like short par threes. I think we need to bring back short par threes.”

The Australian’s request comes amid the very daunting prospect of the eighth hole at Oakmont Country Club.

DeChambeau shared insight into the 289-yard hole on X, which is the longest par three in major championship history.

Also involved with the fan questioning was 2021 US Open champion Jon Rahm, who was asked for his dream golfing foursome.

He said: “All three of the players I would pick are no longer with us. Seve [Ballesteros] would be one. Ben Hogan into that mix.

“And then it would be really cool to have somebody like Moe Norman or another character from back in the day that played golf very different.”
