LIV Mexico is finely poised heading into the final round on Sunday.
Bryson DeChambeau leads LIV Mexico by one stroke from Aussie Cam Smith, three from Chilean Joaquin Niemann and four from fiery Spaniard Jon Rahm.
Whilst LIV Golf isn’t for everyone, Saturday at Club de Golf Chapultepec certainly produced some truly exceptional golf.
DeChambeau explained on Friday how the course at LIV Mexico is both gettable and tricky at the same time.
The 31-year-old was crushing it off the tee on Friday. DeChambeau drove the 391-yard first hole (his 18th), after clocking a 197 mph ball speed on day one.

And he didn’t slow down on Saturday.
The two-time major champion posted a second round five-under par 66 and in truth, it could have been a lot better than that.
Bryson DeChambeau opens up on his ‘guilty pleasure’ at LIV Mexico
It’s common knowledge that DeChambeau’s main strength is his ability to overpower any golf course he plays.
That’s not to say that other departments of his game aren’t exceptionally good, because they most definitely are.
However, it would be dishonest to suggest that his length off the tee isn’t the main reason why he’s such a big draw in today’s game.
The reigning US Open champion delivered his verdict on his second round 66 at LIV Mexico, just after he holed his putt for a birdie on the final hole:

“My irons, I’m still pulling them a little bit, so I’ve got to work on that, my starting lines and give myself more chances. I feel like I was a little unlucky today in certain aspects, nut all in all I’m proud of the way I fought and I shot five-under, I’m really proud.“
Asked how much he loves hitting his driver, DeChambeau simply responded by saying with a huge grin: “It’s a guilty pleasure.“
The 31-year-old is one of the most divisive players in the game. He has a huge, hardcore following, whilst others don’t like the way he goes about things.
Justin Thomas responds to DeChambeau’s comments on Rory McIlroy
Back at The Masters two weeks ago, DeChambeau caused controversy when he said that McIlroy didn’t talk to him during the final round.
And now Thomas has delivered his verdict on those remarks from his Ryder cup teammate.
The RBC Heritage champion responded when asked whether or not he agrees with what DeChambeau said about McIlroy:
“They do (guys do their own thing). Especially when it’s twosomes. I think when it’s threesomes it’s way slower and it’s just different, you have way more time when you’re waiting and you have time to talk more. When it’s twosomes there are times when you’re kind of going you’re separate ways the whole time. And also I’m not really out there to have a big conversation. I mean, you’ll catch up here and there but I’d say that’s pretty normal for everybody that we’re just out there trying to take care of business.”
Many have sided with McIlroy after DeChambeau’s comments at The Masters and in all fairness, each and every golfer has the right to behave exactly how they want to, as long as they don’t adversely affect their playing partners.
