Bryson DeChambeau heads into the US Open at Oakmont this week with real ambitions of winning the trophy for the third time.
DeChambeau has been in fine form this season, with one win on LIV and two top-5 finishes in the first two majors, and he’ll be licking his chops ahead of the US Open.
The 31-year-old American has a game that is perfectly suited to Oakmont, what with his prodigious length off the tee and his silky touch around the greens.
DeChambeau’s length will be a huge advantage for him at the US Open, and his brute strength should enable him to dig his ball out of the deep rough at Oakmont better than others.
He is the second favourite heading into the tournament, behind Scottie Scheffler, mostly due to his unrivalled ability with a driver in his hands.

DeChambeau has actually hinted that he will be using a new driver at the US Open this week.
If he does put a new driver in the bag at Oakmont, it may well be a risky move, but only time will tell in that regard.
Bryson DeChambeau confirms when his LIV Golf contract expires and drops hint over his future
The LIV star is arguably the most marketable golfer in the world right now.
It’s just such a huge shame that we don’t get to see him compete regularly alongside the likes of Scheffler outside of the four major championships.
DeChambeau addressed the media on Wednesday ahead of the US Open, and he opened up on his current LIV contract.

He said, “Yeah, how do I phrase this? Yeah, next year is when it ends. We’re looking to negotiate end of this year, and I’m very excited. They see the value in me. I see the value in what they can provide, and I believe we’ll come to some sort of resolution on that. Super excited for the future.
“I think that LIV is not going anywhere. He has been steadfast in his belief on team golf, and whether everybody believes in it or not, I think it’s a viable option. I think it’s a viable commercial option. Our team has been EBITDA positive for the past two years, so we’re starting to grow and move in the right direction, just like TGL.
“TGL has done a great job. They’ve got some teams that are making some money, and I believe there is a sustainable model out there. How it all works with the game of golf, who knows, but I know my worth. I know what LIV brings to the table. And I’m excited for the future of what golf is going to be.“
Judging by those remarks, DeChambeau will not be leaving LIV anytime soon.
DeChambeau’s 2025 LIV stats mean he’s ready to win the US Open
The two-time major champion has been in sparkling form this season.
There are question marks over his control with his irons, but his approach play was much improved at LIV Virginia last week, as he saw a 4% increase in greens in regulation from his overall numbers for the season.
Here is how his numbers look on LIV this season in the five key statistical categories:
| LIV stats | DeChambeau’s 2025 ranking |
| Driving accuracy | 14th |
| Driving distance | 1st |
| Greens in regulation | 8th |
| Scrambling | 1st |
| Putting | T-8th |
As you can see, DeChambeau’s game is perfectly well-rounded for the challenge that Oakmont will represent in the US Open this week.
If he manages to hone in his irons, he will definitely take some beating.
