Patrick Reed sparked one of LIV Golf’s most iconic moments after making a hole-in-one on the 12th at The Grange.

Dubbed the ‘watering hole’, the 151-yard par-three is Adelaide’s party hole and has proven to be one of the loudest on LIV‘s schedule.

Chase Koepka made an ace in 2023, but the scenes which followed Reed’s hole-in-one were reminiscent of when Bryson DeChambeau shot 58 at Greenbrier.

YouTube star DeChambeau also lapped in the crowds, and the two-time US Open winner has admitted he loved the atmosphere on Friday.

Speaking after his first round 68, DeChambeau said: “I love getting them riled up. It’s fun. The Australians, they’re a fun bunch. Anytime I can get them excited, it’s a thrill.

“Just everywhere I looked, everybody was screaming at the top of their lungs, and it was fun to showcase a little emotion on the 12th hole because that’s what that hole is meant to be. I’m just glad I hit it on the green and didn’t get a boo.”

DeChambeau is two shots back of leader Sam Horsfield. The Englishman is six under, and one shot clear of Torque duo Sebastian Munoz and Joaquin Niemann.

What Patrick Reed said about his hole-in-one at LIV Golf Adelaide

Reed also commented on the Aussie crowds and admitted that the reaction to his hole-in-one was an extremely cool experience.

“If somebody makes a hole-in-one on a hole like that, you expect just craziness and chaos, and it was. The great thing, I felt like everyone did it the right way. No one got hurt, which is good. You just never know with stuff flying around out there. I was glad to kind of go ahead and get out there and give them something that they wanted,” Reed said.

“The crazy thing was the adrenaline afterwards. I was shaking going back to the tee and just couldn’t kind of calm down and settle into the round after that point. It’s one of those things that you don’t really expect.

“To be honest, when Chase made the hole-in-one to that flag the first time, I’m sitting there going, all right, man, that’s an awesome moment, great time to do it, especially on a hole like that. To set up there and feel like you gave one away right off the bat on the first hole and then step up on your second hole and hit a perfect iron shot like that and watch it go in was awesome.”

The Texan is one-over-par after his opening round. Reed was left to rue four dropped shots between holes one and eleven.
