Brooks Koepka makes claim about Jon Rahm’s putting after playing in his group at LIV Golf Greenbrier

Brooks Koepka won his fifth individual LIV Golf title after beating Jon Rahm in a playoff at LIV Golf Greenbrier.

Koepka has recorded his ‘favourite’ LIV Golf win, with his Smash GC side also winning the team title in West Virginia.

The American finished with a seven under 63 final round to force a playoff at LIV Golf Greenbrier with the Spaniard having carded a 65.

Rahm then fired his tee shot into the bunker in the first playoff hole on the 18th, before missing his putt from 20 feet.

Koepka had just made par to pile the pressure on his opponent, who had come out on top during a final round battle between the pair at the 2023 Masters.

The Spaniard claimed his first LIV Golf tour win in the UK last month, but there are claims Rahm wants to leave LIV Golf and re-join the PGA Tour.

For now, however, he remains part of the breakaway tour, with latest champion Koepka making a claim about Rahm’s putting after LIV Golf Greenbrier.

Discussing his view of Rahm’s playoff putt, Koepka said in his winning press conference: “It was tough from the side, I figured he was going to give it a good run.

“I have played with him the last few days and he has holed a few 20 to 30 footers that he needed to hole, kind of momentum putts. You are expecting to go back to the tee and anything better is just a great result.”

It was a fine event for Smash GC, with Jason Kokrak finishing just one shot behind his captain on The Old White course.

Koepka and Rahm finished on 19 under after their three rounds to continue the event, with Smash beating Ripper GC by three shots to win the team title.

Kokrak also carded a final round 63, with their team members Talor Gooch and John Catlin – in for Graeme McDowell – shooting 69 and 67 respectively.

Rahm is, however, top of the individual standings, having overtaken Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann in season-long points.

The pair are now expected to compete for the title at LIV Golf Chicago next month, where Koepka has a chance of taking the bonus-paying third spot.
