Brian Harman was named on Jim Furyk’s Presidents Cup team, and the American has opened up about how he felt before being selected for the event at Royal Montreal Golf Club.
The American team heads to Quebec looking to continue its remarkable form against the International side, having not been beaten since 1998.
Harman, Keegan Bradley, Tony Finau, Sam Burns, Max Homa, and Russell Henley were added to the team, with Justin Thomas being the big name to miss out.
Harman has since spoken about his inclusion and insisted he felt uncomfortable pushing Furyk for a pick.
Brian Harman details Presidents Cup selection process

Speaking during the latest Fore Play Podcast, Harman revealed that he was in close contact with Furyk throughout the season.
“You know, missed the Tour Championship by a spot. I kind of go dark for a week. I am not going to lobby. I talked to Jim throughout the year. I talked to guys that were going to be on the team throughout the year,” said Harman.
The 37-year-old continued: “It’s one of those things where I am not comfortable trying to ask my way onto a team. You know what I got, you know what I bring, if that’s what you want, that’s great.”
Brian Harman was a safe pick for the Presidents Cup
Sitting just outside the automatic places, Harman was a safe pick for Furyk’s Presidents Cup team.
The diminutive American could be utilised well by the captain, particularly if he’s paired with Homa after the duo impressed at the 2023 Ryder Cup.
In fact, Furyk played all of his picks conservatively. All the players were next in line in the qualification process.
Homa’s inclusion has been criticised, however. As a result, the American is at this week’s Procore Championship, looking to fine-tune his game before heading to Montreal.
