The comparisons between Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler have already begun.
Woods is arguably the greatest golfer of all time and even if you don’t agree with that sentiment, he has to be the second best at the very least.
Now Scheffler is demonstrating a consistent level of golf that we haven’t seen since the 15-time major champion’s prime years.
Butch Harmon has claimed that Scheffler is the closest he has seen to Jack Nicklaus.
And Scheffler has drawn comparisons with Woods from both journalists and his fellow players alike.
Brandel Chamblee has been discussing the merits of both players, comparing the two golfers against each other.
There is no doubt that Woods was in a league of his own in 2000. He won the final three majors of the year, before triumphing at The Masters in 2001.

However, Scheffler’s form in 2025 isn’t a million miles away from the golf that Woods produced 25 years ago.
So who would win if the two golfers faced off against one another in their primes?
Brandel Chamblee predicts who’d win if 2000 Tiger Woods took on 2025 Scottie Scheffler
The golf being played by Scheffler right now is the closest there has been since Woods in his heyday.
But is the current world number one anywhere near the levels that Woods displayed in 2000?
Chamblee was asked who would win a four-day match between 2000 Tiger and 2025 Scheffler.
He said: “Tiger. Because Tiger was a better player than Scottie is now. What Tiger did in 2000, really from 1999 to the beginnings of 2002, in that period he was just a little bit better than Scottie is right now.

“That was the greatest golf that has ever been played, he won the four majors in a row. His scoring average was 67.79. Scottie as we speak is 68.3. Who knows by the end of the year it may be better and we maybe see him, turning into something like Tiger, because if what we saw on the greens at Portrush continues then he will close that gap between Tiger 2000 and where he is at right now.
“But that is the only player that you could pick and there’s a couple of years in Tiger’s 15 that he played, just a couple, where you could pick and say he is better than Scottie is right now.
“You can’t pick any other of year of Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy or Jordan Spieth. You can’t pick any of their years, you cherry pick the best year any of them played, and they are not as good as Scottie Scheffler.“
Tiger Woods 2000 vs Scottie Scheffler 2025: Results compared
Not one single player could have lived with Woods in 2000.
However, Scheffler is recording numbers close to what Woods produced 25 years ago.
Here is how the two players’ numbers compare:
| Results | Woods 2000 | Scheffler 2025 |
| Events played | 20 | 16 |
| Major wins | 3 | 2 |
| Wins | 9 | 4 |
| Top-5s | 16 | 8 |
| Top-10s | 17 | 13 |
| Top-25s | 20 | 16 |
| Missed cuts | 0 | 0 |
Scheffler obviously still has a way to go before he can match Woods’ results from 2000, but he is the only player to have even got close to the 15-time major champion during the past 25 years.
