Ben Griffin produced a superb final round of nine-under par 63 in Mexico on Sunday to win the World Wide Technology Championship.
Griffin‘s win at the World Wide Technology Championship saw him join world number one Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in a very exclusive PGA Tour club.
The 29-year-old’s triumph in Mexico was his third victory of the season on the PGA Tour.
Griffin played poorly in the Pro-Am before his third PGA Tour win at El Cardonal at Diamante, but that’s the way things have always been for the man from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
He is much more focused when he plays in the tournaments and he proved that emphatically this week in Mexico.
And while Griffin still has a long way to go if he’s going to match Scheffler and McIlroy, he has now achieved something on the PGA Tour in 2025 that only the world’s best two players have achieved.

Griffin earned his first ever PGA Tour win in April at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside his partner Andrew Novak.
He then made it two wins in four weeks at the Charles Schwab Challenge at the famed Colonial Country Club.
And by making it three wins for the season, Griffin joined Scheffler and McIlroy.
Only those three players have won on the PGA Tour three or more times in 2025.
Scheffler has six wins to his name while McIlroy has racked up three victories.
Back in April, it was McIlroy’s Masters win that motivated Scheffler to work even harder on his game.
Perhaps Griffin is motivated by watching the world’s best two players do what they do on such a consistent basis.
It’s fair to say that the three-time PGA Tour winner is right up there now with the very best players in the game.
What Scottie Scheffler and Jack Nicklaus said about Ben Griffin
Back in June, Griffin went head to head with Scheffler during the final round of the Memorial Tournament.
Jack Nicklaus is the tournament host, and he was hugely impressed by Griffin’s golf that week at Muirfield Village.
As Nicklaus went to congratulate Scheffler on his victory, he first made it clear that he wanted to do the same to his playing partner on the final day.
Nicklaus said, “Let’s wait for this young man coming off here, he showed up pretty well.“
Scheffler responded, “He did, he’s got a lot of talent.“
Then Nicklaus replied, “Yes he does.“
Griffin has made a big impact on the PGA Tour this season and considering the fact that he has impressed Scheffler and Nicklaus, he must be doing something right.
